Green Bay vs Denver... (1 Viewer)

I didn't realize how good Green Bay cornerbacks Al Harris and Charles Woodsen have been this season.

I know Champ Bailey has been nursing a thigh injury this season, and Champ and Dre' Bly are the standard

which all corner's are measured. But, Harris and Woodson have been putting on a clinic, using the lost art of

the bump-and-run, press man coverage.

Eagles

R. Brown ... 1 Rec...14 yards...0 TD's

K. Curtis ... 2 Rec...53 yards...0 TD's

Giants

P. Burress ... 2 Rec...32 yards...1 TD

A. Toomer .... 2 Rec...48 yards...0 TD's

Chargers

C. Davis ... 4 Rec...31 yards... 1 TD

V. Jackson ..6 Rec...98 yards....1 TD

Vikings

B. Wade ...5 Rec...83 yards...0 TD's

T. Williamson..2 Rec...23 yards...0 TD's

Bears

B. Berrian ...1 Rec...10 yards...0 TD's

M. Muhammad ..1 Rec...17 Yards...0 TD's

Redskins

S. Moss ...0 Rec...0 yards...0 TD's

A. Randle El ...2 Rec... 30 yards...0 TD's

I know i'm going to hear, they didn't play anybody (IE,) R.Moss, M, Harrison, C. Johnson, etc...

but that's was who was on the schedule so far.

Down the road they go up against S. Smith, T, Owens and P, Crayton, T.Holt, Roy Williams and Cal Johnson (twice)

I don't know how much weight Chris Collinsworth has around here but he says "Harris and Woodson form the

toughest corner tandem anywhere". "People know about Bailey and Bly in Denver. But Harris and Woodson are

the best cornerback pair doing the toughest job....Good article in the USA Today sports weekly about the Brat Pack

(Harris and Woodson)

Looking forward to Monday Night....

Last year Harris shut down a lot of #1 WR's. I don't have time to look up the numbers or I would. Teams have for the most part given up on throwing on these guys. They have however figured out our weakest link is our nickle back. Bush has been burned repeatedly. That and we can't cover TE's worth a crap either.

yeah, harris was lights out last year. at some point mid-season, there was a FBG thread that listed stats of #1 WRs going against harris. the numbers were impressive.bush looks......not even average. and poppinga/hawk continue to struggle against quality TEs. fortunately, our run defense has shut down the middle when necessary, and our defense has made big plays at the right time.harris/woodson better put on a clinic monday night. and favre should make bly look beatable.

You make it sound lie improvements won't be made. Poppinga scrwed up and Collins was caught looing in the backfield. They did better in the 2nd against Cooley. This is a growing team. They do need to get Woodson off the return tyeam however.Hopefully KRob can help there.

Of course improvements will be made I hope anyways. I'm sure KRob will be returning kicks which will ease Woody's role a bit. I really think we're going to establish the run this week. They've had the bye week to set some things up and Denver's rush D isn't too impressive even though they were pretty stout last week. If they don't get the run going this week, it may not happen at all this year.

In practice this week Charles Woodson was still fielding punts, but Koren Robinson should be the main kick returner.Denver and Green Bay have two of the best starting corners...too bad neither can stop the opponents TE. This game will probably come down to Brett Favre and Jay Cutler's decision making against those corners. I don't envision either team being able to win this game on the ground.
