Greg Little (1 Viewer)

I now have him as my 3rd WR in this draft.

Here is what I see. He is raw with limited experience at WR, but he brings a nice combination of size and speed. He catches the ball with his hands away from his body and IMO he has the best RAC ability of any of the big WRs in this draft.

Post combine I think he will be discussed in top 3-5 wr range, but questions will prevent him from being drafted as the #3 wr...that is why say he will be the WR steal of the draft.

Here is a great article from Dynasty Rogues where Roy Green (former NFL wr) says Little is better than either of the last 2 yrs #1 wrs picked in the draft (who cares about DHB, but better than DT gets my attention)

WR Greg Little seeking redemption - 02-16-2011

.

There is no NFL draft prospect with more to prove throughout the scouting process than Greg Little..

No player who is more of a mystery. No player whose story, and reputation, is in greater need of an update..

Little took a significant step toward changing that this week. In the ex-North Carolina wide receiver's first interview since he was suspended for the 2010 season for improper dealings with an agent, Little told Sporting News this week that he made a "terrible mistake.".

His mistake reportedly involved accepting jewelry, travel and other benefits totaling approximately $5,000 in value..

"Not to say that it excuses my behavior, but I understand there are consequences for every action that you do," said Little, a former running back who switched positions as a junior and then led the Tar Heels in all receiving categories in 2009, then had seemingly realistic first-round hopes pinned on a senior season that never happened. "I'm a living and walking testament to college guys - the road not to go down.".

The path he's been on since, though, has pointed him toward a redemptive trip to Indianapolis next week for the NFL Scouting Combine..

During football season last year, after being banned from the UNC facilities, Little worked out up to 15 times a week - as many as three hour-long sessions a day - with MMA fighter Wayne Hunter in Little's hometown of Durham, N.C..

"It was the most unorthodox training I've ever done," he said, "but I knew I had to stay in the best shape of my life.".

Little (6-2, 220) has a frame similar to the Texans' Andre Johnson. Rated 12th among wideouts by Sporting News draft expert Russ Lande heading into the Combine workouts, Little could skyrocket up draft boards should he surprise scouts and runs the 40-yard dash in the mid-4.4-second range..

He has wowed the who's-who of receivers he's been training with in Phoenix since the end of the fall semester. It's a group that includes the top two in the draft at that position, Georgia's A.J. Green and Alabama's Julio Jones..

Green calls Little "a steal for whoever picks him.".

Former NFL star Roy Green, the Combine coach here at the Athletes' Performance complex, said Little - like A.J. Green and Jones - is a better prospect than either of the wide receivers who was first off the board in the 2010 (Demaryius Thomas, Broncos) or 2009 (Darrius Heyward-Bey, Raiders) drafts. That's significant because both of those first-round picks were coached in Phoenix by Green..

Also here at the Phoenix facility is Blaine Gabbert, widely expected to be the first quarterback drafted April 28. Gabbert has thrown to Little five days a week since early January and calls him a "freak of nature.".

"He's incredible. He'll run through you, over you, around you," Gabbert said. "And he's one of the hardest-working guys I've been around - and extremely bright.".

Roy Green describes Little as "cerebral" - not the word one expects to hear about a player who was eighty-sixed from his college program..

But any preconceived notions about him have been based, after all, on a single mistake. NFL personnel men and coaches still have much to learn about Little, who could be in line for a dramatic rise on draft boards this spring..

"I understand there are moments that define you and mold you as a person, moments where you say, 'Hey, I get it now,' " Little said. "When the thing happened at school, I got it ... and the result was devastating..

"That's my message to the NFL: I made a mistake and am not going to shy away from it. I'm trying to fix things.".

I thought Thomas had a broken foot this time last year.

He broke it training right before the combine.
Demaryius Thomas, an underclassman receiver from Georgia Tech who projects as a first-round selection in April's NFL draft, broke his left foot on Wednesday in Scottsdale, Ariz., while training for next week's combine. The injury occurred while Thomas was practicing the three-cone drill in preparation. He has been ruled out of participating in any of the combine workouts.

I like him as much as the next guy, but we're talking about a WR who played RB two years ago and was ineligible last season. He hasn't had all that much time at the WR position. He could very well have all the tools to succeed (and more so than DT would have, etc.), but he's going to need some development at the position.

There's a good possibility that he takes some time to develop and guys will need to be patient with him to see if he'll pan out.

PS - it looks like this thread had someone draft Little ASAP in a dynatsy startup I'm right now.

He's just Bustin' Chops -- he did mean to draft Addai...

Do you think he even get's drafted after lying at the combine ???
How did he lie? I had thought he took ownership for what he did...?
It was in ROTOWORLD yesterday...Something about being less than honest would be an understatement...It could take him out of the draft all together.
Guy has to be a world-class idiot. The biggest part of his NCAA penalty was from lying to the NCAA. Little must have assumed that the NFL teams wouldn't have access to the NCAA's info and tried to make himself out as a victim of circumstance instead of owning up to breaking rules, taking gifts, etc., etc., etc. If I was running a team's war room, I wouldn't touch this guy.

If the talent is that good, someone will take him. It will just be 5th - 7th round. Sounds like the Bengals...

So you guys think the guy takes responsibility in a public interview and then lies in a private interview? Be serious, this is one BS rumor coming from ONE source with ZERO details and nobody else has confirmed it.I think the real idiots are the ones drawing conclusions.

I have no idea about the "rumors," but I do know that Greg Little is an awesome prospect as an NFL player outside of his off-the-field stuff. Really enjoyed watching him on film with the exception of his incredible bouts of immaturity that showed up more times that you want to see. I hope he grows up - he has stud potential.

I agree Matt. Reminds me of a larger A Boldin. Would you agree?

As I understood it it was that immature the world is out to get him and not taking ownership of the blame. I don't get the word "lie" here. Everyone is falling for Cam's "the past is in the past" line of thinking because he has "mad skills." Well, pathetically, the NFL can be quite forgiving if you're blessed with a wealth of talent. Matt seemed "high" on him in a previous post. If some team is as well, then this won't really matter.

Understand what? If you have other info, please post the link. The quote from the SI reporter/rotoworld was "he was less than truthful"...to me that is accusing him of lieing. I still have this guy as the number 3 wr on my board and he won't move until I know he has made a mistake. Many on this board have convicted him based off of one potentially irresponsable reporter's comments.

There's the info that is know publicly that you can do a google search for. Then there's the stuff that the NCAA and UNC know from their investigation. If Little tried to fess up to the stuff that's in the public realm, and then deny everything else, and a team interviewer had access to the investigation info, then I would assume that team would say Little was being "less than truthful." Yes, this is nothing more than mere rumors that we have access to. But I can certainly see a bit of actual fire creating all this smoke.

So in other words you are speculating...seems a bit harsh to call a guy a "World class idiot" on pure speculation. On the other hand, I didn't have to speculate at all to say "I think the real idiots are the ones drawing conclusions" BTW, if you can see "all this smoke and fire",why hasn't anyone else reported ANYTHING on the subject?

Not sure. I'm in my last week of studying games and I begin my analysis of what I saw (rankings, reports, comparisons, etc.) a week from today. I see where you're heading with the comparison, but not really willing to state anything right now in terms of providing one. In terms of his attitude, he's really passionate about the game when he's on the field but he can let that get the best of him (ripping his helmet off, punting the football into the stands after a score, etc.) when he doesn't channel it properly.

Imagine going into the biggest job interview of your life and lying.

- Last evening sources told DraftInsider.net that numerous teams are down on former North Carolina receiver Greg Little before he has even taken the field. Teams have found Little to be less than honest during the interview process, and that’s putting it nicely. Little, as you may remember, was suspended for the 2010 season after violating school and NCAA rules.

To me, the physical aspects of the combine are overrated at nearly every position. (RB and CBs notwithstanding). What is truly important is the medicals, and interviewing well with the teams.

Little is drawing comparisons to Mike Williams from a year ago at this point. To the best of my knowledge though, Williams was completely forthcoming to all the teams regarding his past. Like Williams this will probably push Little down at least a couple of rounds from what his talent would otherwise dictate. There's a lot less financial commitment to a player in round 4 or 5 (about a $500,000 signing bonus) vs round two where the bonuses are in excess of 1 million.

Am I missing something or did you just go from saying he didn't lie to saying he did?

IMO the fact we have not heard Mayock dropping his name as a potential stud speaks volumes. Last year after the combine Mike Williams was being pimped by him and everyone else. He has way to many red flags to draft before the 2nd round of a dynasty draft. That might even be to quick.

As a State fan, I am predisposed not to like UNC players, but I really don't like Little more than most. He has a punk attitude on the field. In 2009, he blocked a State DB illegally on a play, and the State player went down with a torn ACL. Little proceeded to then stand over him and taunt him. (I'm not saying he intended to cause the injury, but it was very low class/immature.)As far as the issue about him being less than truthful in his combine interviews, why is that surprising? The reason he was suspended for the entire season last year is that he accepted illegal benefits and then lied about it to UNC and the NCAA. This is well documented. Other UNC players who accepted illegal benefits were not suspended for the entire season; one reason could be that they were truthful during the investigation. Why should we assume he would handle it differently now based on what happened last year?

I think a team or two will take the chance on the guy. I think most people with some years of experience behind them understand the concept well that you give human beings a second or third chance to grow up at the tender age of 2_(insert second digit there). He might not get anything but third day or free agent money, but he'll get a shot. He's too talented and far too many NFL players have done worse than what Little has done at this point in his life to write the guy off.

I agree wholeheartedly. I just wouldn't over pay for a guy who could just as easily be washing cars 5 years down the road.

•Greg Little, WR, North Carolina: With Little having been suspended for the 2010 season for accepting improper benefits from an agent, few players had more riding on their combine performance. A spectacular, but raw, athlete who saw time at running back for the Tar Heels before switching to receiver, Little measured in like a tight end at 6-3, 220 pounds and led the position with 27 repetitions on the 225-pound bench press, more than several of the top offensive tackles. Little also finished among the positional leaders in the vertical jump (40½ inches) and broad jump (10 feet, 9 inches). Most important, he was honest and contrite in his interviews with news reporters and teams.

Maybe that smoke was coming from the cigar of a coach that thinks he will land this VERY talented and underated WR
