Gumbel INACTIVE Week 15 (1 Viewer)

Sore throats can't heal in 2 days? It seems early to be making an official switch. I hope the NFL Network has realized they made a mistake by hiring Gumbel to do play-by-play, and now they will use any excuse to pull him off the air. Does anyone enjoy listening to Gumbel announce a football game?

Gumbel, meanwhile, will rest up for the network's Saturday night game between the Bengals and 49ers. He will work the game with Deion Sanders and Marshall Faulk as Collinsworth prepares for his Sunday job on NBC's Football Night in America.
 I think this might be worse than my Bengals getting mathematically eliminated this past week!-QG

He`s really not very popular...

Bryant Gumbel will miss the NFL Network's Thursday night broadcast with a sore throat.

Rejoice, football fans, rejoice! Tom Hammond will replace Gumbel in a move that rivals Kyle Orton's ascension to starter as the most exciting news of the week.

I saw the injury and it didn't look good. Also, you could tell by the look on his face that he knew it was bad. He's done for the year. Just accept it.

Seriously though, I might actually have the sound on for the Thursday game.

I had a sore throat once. It hurt every time I talked for at least a week. He'll probably be out this week and maybe more. Anybody know the name of his handcuff? Waiver claims need to be in by 7 p.m. Wednesday. What's this do for Collinsworth's value? He's available on my WW and I need to know if he's worth a claim.

Tom Hammond is a fine announcer. I remember his days at WLEX TV in Lexington, Ky doing sports as part of their news cast. That was over 30 years ago I believe. Since going to NBC he's done very well. I especially like his coverage of the Ky Derby.

It appears Greg Gumble has a ankle injury and it doesn't appear to be very serious.

I didn't think it was possible to put a worse booth group together than Patrick/Maguire/Theismann, but Sanders/Faulk/Gumbel might take the cake.

They should just throw in Dennis Miller and make it a complete catastrophe. -QG

With Gumbel out, do I use my #1 waiver spot picking up Don Criqui--who's coming off the PUP list--or wait for something better to come along?

Sorry mods..maybe this is a question for the Assistant Coach forum.

Collinsworth is on your WW? Nice Guppy League, loser.

we're probably reading into this way too much.

let's see if the network hires anyone in the offseason or if Gumby "gives up" his position to focus on other projects ... then we can celebrate
