I just got back from the hand Dr. Because I thought I had a fractured near the knuckle on my index finger. It turns out I had a 2inch thorn in my hand from a palm tree I was trimming over a year ago. I went to the same Dr. When it happened, because i thought I broke it then. It swelled up 2x the size of my hand. He did an x-ray, and recommended I get an MRI because he wouldn't be able to see if there was a thorn nor anything. They made me a brace and all, and I scheduled the MRI. My wife has a medical condition where she regularly has to have MRI's, so she knows how much they cost. She ended up talking me out of it, saying I was over reacting. I let a few days go by, wore the brace, and the swelling went down. For a year though, I have had pain when working out. I ended up just kind of avoiding using the index finger when gripping. Well, a week ago I was planting bamboo in my yard, and I felt a sharp pain. It felt like a pin poking out of my skin, and a 1×1 red bump formed. Dr. Shot it up with lidocaine, made an incision and pulled it out. I can't believe that thing was in me for over a year. Long story short, never take medical advice from your wife unless she is a medical professional. She owes me big time.
