Handcuffing QBs (1 Viewer)

Now that Pittsburgh bye is over would you recommend handcuffing Big Ben with Batch? My other QB is Huard and pickings are thin in a 16 team league.

What other QBs would you consider handcuffing. I do think Brady will not play the entire season and probably his backup may be a good one, if in fact they beat Indy and lock up home field advantage.

Thoughts?

I have Ben and am thinking of dropping Schaub (we have thin benches) and getting depth elsewhere, knowing that I can grab Batch is Ben goes down.

Not many teams have QBs worth handcuffing but Pittsburgh is definitely one of them. Batch plays well when in relief of Big Ben and the system around the Steelers QBs is solid. I currently own Ben and Schaub and will likely be grabbing Batch in the next few weeks. I'm not sure if I'll drop Schaub to get him or some other benchwarmer simply because Schaub is decent and could be valuable to another team once AJ returns.

To me, it's harder to just grab the backup QB like we do RB's and think we're covered. Coming in off the bench for most of these guys at QB is a lot harder than the backup RB coming in off the bench to play.If Ben goes down, Batch is hardly worth much. If I were you I'd just keep as many starters in your lineup as possible. I'd look to see if some frustrated owners are throwing away players who are injured for only a couple weeks and going after other players. For exmaple, Garrard's hurt for 2 weeks, he could get dropped. If so, you should be on him and let him heal on your bench rather than having Batch. If you have a really deep bench, I'd recommend getting Brady Quinn. He won't play unless Anderson gets hurt....but that's kind of what we're talking about here, right? If someone goes down, having a backup.I think Cleveland all along was way underrated on offense. I think Anderson is doing a great job but IF he was to get hurt, I think Brady Quinn could fill in and do the job. We saw flashes of what he could do in the preseason and in this offense, if given the chance I'd roll with him vs. a Charlie Batch. This may never come to fruition but if it does, those that rush to the waiver wire in my league to get him will be disappointed because he's already sitting on my bench.

I wouldn't say Batch is hardly worht much. Here are his stats from last year while filling in for Roethlisberger: G GS Comp Att Pct Yds Avg TD Int Sck SckY Rate Att Yds Avg TD 2006 Pittsburgh Steelers 8 1 31 53 58.5 492 9.3 5 0 3 13 121.0 13 15 1.2 0 1 To be fair, I had top cut off the stats at the end showing a fumble lost but this shows he can play and produce in the Steelers offense.

How do you figure? I completely disagree.....Batch is one of the best backups in the NFL. He knows our system and he has proven to be successful in it.

To support the poster above.2006 Week1: Vs. Miami - 209 / 3 / 0 (when Ben was out)2006 Week7: @ Atlanta - 195 / 2 / 0 (I think he only played a half here since Ben also had 2 TDs, forgot why he came in)
