"Hard Knocks" returning to HBO this year (1 Viewer)

I grew up a Cowboys fan, but became a Ravens fan when they came to Baltimore. So I've really enjoyed those first 2 Hard Knocks. It's a fantastic series and well worth the spot on the Tivo (or DVR) if you can't catch it. I lived in Kansas City for a year also so this is about the next best thing. I'm excited it's back.

Agreed. I absolutely loved the first two. Always wondered why they stopped doing it...

Living in Dallas, I'm pretty sure I heard HBO stopped b/c they couldn't get any more teams to cooperate like the Cowboys and Ravens were willing to.

Hard Knocks at Chiefs camp = No LJ, no OL, no passing game and the HARDEST OF KNOCKS...having Herm as a Head Coach!!!

Having not seen any previous seasons, I thought this was an excellent show.

Time to set the DVR.....

It's still a good show, but there are 0 entertaining personalities on this team.

Not only are they a bad team, but also a boring one.

So was the one in Jacksonville just an NFL network show?

I thought it was excellent.

Of course I am a Chiefs fan ...

The sad thing was watching the WRs whiff repeatedly ...

My God folks, why the KC hate in these forums.....is it a Missouri thing, a midwest thing? A conservative/liberal thing?

I have seen more hate for Kansas City and the Chiefs than any other city/franchise on these forums over all others.

We'll I love the midwest and had a good time in Missouri when i was out there for a week and I am a conservative from Massachusetts (yes we exist) and I still think that KC is a relatively boring team. Just surprised that they picked them for this. There are some good stories on defense, Hali, Donnie Edwards coming in anew, etc, but KC is one of the last few teams I would want to see such an in depth documentary of.

You would be surprised how far-reaching the KC fanbase is. Once they returned to being good `1990, they got season ticket holders from Arkansas, Iowa, N. Dakota, S. Dakota, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Nebraska, etc.KC, DALL, DEN and to some degree MINN are all very widespread fanbases.......lots of states out here with no professional sports so they follow teams from one or two states away.It is my belief, unfounded mind you, that KC has one of the largest fanbases in the league.....so HBO knows people will watch. It may not be people from NYC or Boston or Jersey, but people will watch.

Playoff teams are bad teams????????????
The past is the past. The Raiders were a Superbowl team a few years ago but i don't currently call them a superbowl team.Nothing wrong with blind homerism, in a way it's admirable, but this teams offense is so bad unless the defense can hold teams to under 14 points a game they will be lucky to win 5 games.I'm not a KC hater, i actually like them, but i believe in being realistic.

The Chiefs are an inspired choice.

They are going to be a complete:

And it will be fine entertainment.

The LJ holdout, which has the potential to be thermonuclear in terms of its ability to destroy the team.

The Priest comeback, which could be disastrous, humiliating, and even tragic.

The beyond lame QB "controversy" between Croyle and Huard... this is going to be worse than Couch vs Holcomb in terms of two wet teabags fighting each other.

The pathos of the post-Hunt era replaced by the bathos of the Herm era.

The complete collapse of the line and the receiving corps to sub-Arena status. Bring back Kyle Turley!

Genius TV from HBO.

I doubt it's a Missouri thing at all and I'm sure most people like KC...It's this team - As much as you want to hope Herm is a good coach and I know his records and all, but, the majority feel he's not that good.... And the majority feel the team isn't that good and is between rebuilding and trying not to...Hey, I'm sure if it were the Jets people would be bringing the hate as well, that's how it goes....Personally, And I know you know how I feel, But, like many Jet fans, I feel Herm is a Football nincompoop.... One reason I want to watch this show is to see if my opinions change one way or another.....Haven't watched yet but, I'm TIVO'ng the series...I also think Herm was one of the few coaches in the NFL foolish enough to agree to this.... I'd think most coaches wouldn't want the added distraction and scrutiny.

Beats reading about your Madden team.

Saw it last night.

The funniest part of the first episode was when one of the WRs had to go to the bathroom. The coach let him run to the port-o-potty.

The announcer say: "This may be the most important route this young reciever runs all camp. He may yet become a #2 reciever."

Why is there so much hate for Croyle? He was pretty solid at 'Bama, until he got hurt. I could see if he started a few games in his career, and flopped. I just dont get it.

Dunno, maybe it's because he was at 'Bama when they only threw like 2 passes every game?

Here's his stats in '05:2005: 202 of 339 2499 yds 59.6 comp pct 87 (longest TD pass) 14 TD, 4 INT, 132.78 Rating.\U gotta come up with a better argument than that boss

I was just picking on 'Bama and their lack of passing game over the years. You'll notice the winky. To be honest, I think people don't think much of him because he's not flashy and he wasn't a high draft pick. Herm ball is not that exciting, so there is not much to jump for joy.

gotcha...well, Croyle would have been a 1st RD pick if he didnt injure his knee in college... i know he has the talent, but i agree that he needs to prove himself.

I got a good belly laugh when Herm tried to get the players to hold the sign.... not sure who it was, but he said "Man, got some rookies to do this ****." Then he threw the sign on the ground and walked away.

I don't think people from NY hate the Chiefs at all... I have always liked them since the days of Stramm and company, it's Edwards that people don't like. I wish he had gone to a franchise I didn't like... then watching the implosion would be much more fun.

Herm will coach this team into the far reaches of mediocrity.

I have truly never seen a coach get so excited about doing it nor get exasperated and irritate at the media when they start pointing that out.

He is also a great story for the NFL. Not sure how familiar many are with it.His father was an All-American lineman at Alabama in the 70's who had an NFL future. Instead of playing football, he chose instead to start a camp for underpriveledged boys. He raised Brodie at that camp. There was one story of Brodie giving the clothes off his back to another kid whose clothes were tattered...when he was something like 12 years old.An amazing father...an amazing son. His success would be good for the league. I would think either HBO or the networks will play this angle eventually.

I dont care what most think of the chiefs or Herm. I like both and look foward to these series as I did the other too. I'm a Houston fan and I hate the Cowboys but loved that series on the them. I wish I could get the DVDs of the other 3 hard knocks. I hope Kubiak would be as open to let those guys give the Texans some exposure. Bottomline I wish they would do one every year because it just gives me more fuel for my NFL Network during the down time.

I just discovered that this exists. Sweet.

They really captured lightning in a bottle with the first season. I still have it on VHS but no real means of getting it to DVD as of yet.

The second season pretty much blew, with the lame personalities (Chad Hutchinson & Brandon Flowers with an acoustic guitar... not hot) and the stupid idea of bringing in the cheerleader drama (hot but terribly irritating).

Team has lost all it's talent and has the Herminator for a coach...

my favorite part so far is when the part-time Mayor of the miniscule town the Chiefs are training in says to the players as they're walking by:

"Hi, I'm the mayor. Larry Johnson here yet?"

I cant believe no ones mentioned how swole D Bo looks! Clearly bigger than he was at the combine IMO.

D Bo has damn near the exact same mold as T.O, I'm really big on him in Dynasty.
