"Hard Knocks" returning to HBO this year (1 Viewer)

the scene where Herm is drawing that sign reminded me of the episode of the Sopranos where T is getting investigated for some no-show job so he has to come to work everyday and sit in some trailor. Everybody is working hard at some construction gig and Tony is drawing up the office football pool.

I like Herm. What's not to like about the guy? Always positive. Always upbeat. I don't know that I've ever heard him say a bad thing about another person.

somehow i don't feel like we're getting the same insight we got during the Raven's one.. remember really rooting for Todd Heap during that season

I remember rooting for the kicker during the Dallas one

:scared:
I don't get the Herm hate either. Guy has made the playoffs 4 out of 6 years. I'll take that. People on this board are weird about who they choose to have irrational dislikes for. Herm almost had me out there jogging by the time he was done talking.

what nite is this officially on?

it debuted on Sunday i thought or was that a re-run?

then it was on again last nite.. what the ####?

:loco:

Always Positive, Always upbeat, never says a bad thing about a person, great motivator...Those are all the thing NOBODY is doubting....... It's his FOOTBALL IQ that people question...IMO he's not a game planner, he doesn't make adjustments, looks completely lost on snap in Game decisions and in NY was caught on camera a few times basically running around asking "What do we do???? " Guy needs his own clock manager.Granted, some people feel the role of Head coach is to be an organizer, a motivator and someone who relies on his coordinators for the dirty work...I kinda like having a head coach who is considered a "Genius" at something X's and O's related.I feel people are born to coach - Herm was NOT and kinda fell into it cuz he's the guy EVERYONE likes. I think he rambles and tell stories so much because he really doesn't have the answers.I think a Herm coached team that is relatively healthy will never "Lose It" and Tank, he will get the players to play and play hard and I think that's why he's had success up to a point, but, after that I don't think he has what it takes for that extra edge when it comes to coaching against a Bellichik and what he's going to throw out you..... Herm will barely make the playoffs a lot, like he has done - Every time it seems like it takes a minor miracle.Herm has been quoted as saying basically he wants his team to do what They can do and then you will be successful regardless of what the opponent does...That takes you so far in my book. Personally I feel he's been outcoached and hasn't reacted to changing game plans and what the opponent gives you...It's great to "Try Your Best" and "Give it your all".. I just feel the best coaches in sports spend countless hours and analyze everything about the opponent, take advantages of weaknesses, makes adjustments on the fly and continually come up with new game plans.....Herm is a line em up and let em rip Head Coach.... Bellichik studies his opponent and comes up with Wrinkles.... Herm gets eaten alive by wrinkles. He isn't a coach that spends countless hour planning and studying opponents - Just look in episode 1 of this show - The Guy spends needless hours driving in his car and making a stupid sign. Parcells and Bellichik use every minute of the day quite a bit better than that IMO.But, yeah, GREAT GREAT GREAT LOVEABLE GUY.......No reason to HATE at all - he's the new breed of coach if you like that thing.

That rookie Tank Tyler looks like he's gonna be a beast.
yeah he does... he was actually supposed to be a 1st round pick (top 25 I believe), but slid to the 3rd round due to character issues.... so he definately has the talent
and sleep apnea
lol, yeah he does.... that was brutal.... kinda felt bad for Turk McBride
yeah really.... turk needs to get his own room when they go on these road trips.no wonder he looked so bad in that first preseason game.... dude can't get any sleep.

This show is fantastic, I didn't catch it last year.

Some thoughts:

Herm Edwards reminds me of the neighborhood crack head that hangs out on a corner all night. Don't really know why.

Brodie Croyle reminds me of Jim from "The Office"....and that's not a compliment for a QB.

I have a lot of respect for Turley and Grigsby.

Gunther Cunningham sort of reminds me of Billy Bob Thorton in Bad Santa.

For me, this Chiefs edition of "Hard Knocks" is as entertaining as that first one, with the Ravens. Not a lot of hard fantasy info to be gotten from this series, but seeing Priest Holmes in practice, I decided not to go anywhere near him FF-wise. Apparently, he's in worse shape than even he realized.

Maybe I'm alone in this, but I get the impression that Gunther Cunningham is holding back the rage in front of the cameras.

I am a life long Jets fan. I loved Edwards to a certian extent. He is the definitive "ra-ra" coach. I belive his talents are better suited for the college game where he can be a motivator/leader of men. His strategic thinking and tactics are not that sound.

Chief fans, you will love the 2 minute warnings. Herm will look helpless. As my father said (he has been watching football for 50+ years) Herman Edwards is the only coach he can ever remember not having the palybook card in front of him during a game.

D Bowe is a monster as is Tank Taylor (I enjoy his time on camera, he is a great character)

LJ is a punk. I feel bad for Priest. There was a time where he was the best in the buisiness. This game has a way of humbling you. One of my frineds knows LJ and the stories are true , he and Priest do not like each other. LJ is a punk/diva....to bad the money wasnt going to a real man of men like Preist Homes

I'm enjoying this season - not quite up there with the first one, just doesn't have the personalities... but it's way better than the second one. I hope they go back to making this an annual series.

 You have Herm down cold. In last weeks show Herm is on the sidelines against the Dolphins saying "Can somebody just make a play". How about giving the team a play that will work. Herm would be a great position coach but he is out of his league as a head coach.

Wide receiver Bobby Sippio signed a 2 year contract and was added to the 53 man roster. The kicker Justin Medlock was placed on waivers.
