harisson a must handcuff to best? (1 Viewer)

In PPR, I would definitely have Harrison. Best is fragile as hell and Harrison has some ability if he gets the job. Non-PPR, and smaller leagues, he's not necessary, depending who else you can get.

I think we're going to see a lot of Harrison at some point this year... I'd guess around week 5 or 6.

He's the "Best" replacement for Best in that he has similar attributes. He also doesn't have much wear so he could have some huge games if given the shot.

I've picked him up in leagues because he's getting the ball, on a good offense and behind a guy that's one hit from being out for several weeks/longer. If you've got a spot on your bench I'd definitely take a flyer on him.

Isn't every player one hit away from being out, though. :football:

in a sense but when a guy has had concussions in college and now a couple in the pros you become more susceptible to additional concussions. That coupled with his turf toe among other injuries on a smaller frame that may not be able to take the punishment I'd put his injury risk among the highest of all starting RBs.

 No, I don't think so; the one he sustained against the Browns in the preseason was his first since 2009. The one that ended his college career was a pretty scary flip/fall, so it sticks in people's minds. He also had a mild concussion the week before, so they shut him down.

Dislocated elbow his sophomore year, turf toe last year, three concussions. Any other significant injuries?

I dunno, it's impossible to predict injuries. Harrison has performed at a high level in limited opportunities over the years. I think he warrants spot on your roster due to his talent and potential opportunity. The grade II turf toe was used as an excuse for Best's low YPC last year; fair enough, give him a pass. Last week it was 3.5; I don't think the leash is long if he continues to struggle carrying the load. Oh, he's an explosive playmaker, I'm just not convinced Best will ever be a bell cow. Jerome is a capable receiver, and has put up huge games when he got the chance. If Jahvid stays healthy but isn't productive, don't be surprised if Harrison gets a lot more touches later in the year.

That's why you handcuff him, not because you are predicting Best will get injured.

I didn't predict one but do you not think that some guys get injured or are more prone than others? I assign injury risks to guys based on their past and running styles...3 concussions is nothing to scoff at and it's significant (IMO) since his last one was recent and the heightened awareness in the NFL w/r/t concussions. he's been banged up since he's been in the league and they don't view him as a between the tackle runner which is why they drafted Leshoure. You can disagree and that's fine but that's how I view him and the situation.

thoughts?
Harrison was a popular speculation in many drafts especially after good pre-season games but it is still not clear how the Lions would distribute the touches if Best was out - Morris and Harrison, either one could end up with the majority. Keiland Williams is behind both of them but more likely to get goal line/short yardage work if Morris was the RB1

What I disagreed with was factual (multiple concussions as a pro is false).I listed his major injuries over the last four years, but by no means do I (or ANYONE who owns him in FF or roots for the Lions) take concussions lightly.

You read more into what I said than is actually there.

I could have sworn that he got a concussion last year, I guess I was wrong.
