Harvard Business School Professor Goes to War Over $4 Worth of Ch (1 Viewer)

I don't get this. He had to know Duan leaked the first email trail.

What made him think the moronic slanty eyed email was not going to get the same treatment?

Can he be disciplined or worse by Harvard for this?

Only if racism against Asians would be unpopular among Harvard Business School students.Oops.

Oh, no... the guy is too effing smart... too many publications in his name... Golly, I would love to get this guy working for me sometime. I mean, we have interns working for free who have been more productive over a few months than this guy has been in 7 years.

They can absolutely fire him immediately.
There may never be a better end to a story. :)
He's pretty clearly racist against Asians and not very afraid to show it. My guess is more stories will be coming out of the woodwork soon.

Harvard will be hard-pressed to keep him around. They are about to get mobbed by Asian rights activist groups.

Most think the racist email is probably fake as it seems to have been sent through the restaurants website contact form. I'm guessing you can probably just fake the email. However on Boston.com there is another email that this guy apparently sent to another sushi place a few years ago doing basically the same thing about the menu.

Awww... for all we know the Chinese Government itself is ringing Harvard's bell over this. I mean, the sons & daughters of most every official at the highest levels go to friggin' Harvard.

Seriously... I doubt the Chinese government takes the words of one idiot seriously. But there is no doubt in my mind they will express their displeasure with this professor when Harvard comes knocking for a contribution.... and the Chinese government probably gives a lot more than your average HBS grad, fwiw.

brohans you can tell a lot from a thread like this most ninety nine percent of us will just agree the original guy was a laroosh but one or two percent will show up defending him and you know they are defending him because they have done the same type of crap and been the same type of a jboy it is sort of like a thread like this shines a lot of light one people take that to the bank brohans
Food for thought for sure from the old SWC'er.

"Contrition." :achem:

Sounds like he realized that others recognized / saw him as the UD he is. This was nothing more than a pathetic self preservation move. And a self serving one at that.

Earlier tonight, Boston.com published a piece suggesting Harvard Business School Professor Ben Edelman sent an email with racist overtones to Sichuan Garden. We cannot verify that Edelman, in fact, sent the email. We have taken the story down.

Awww.. he used the word "slant-eyed" somehow. Not really all that bad, but it sure as hell looks bad when you're a Harvard professor and half your class is Asian.

He said something like You may have won this round but it's nice to see that your menu is a little less slanty.

The guy said he enjoyed the food. Hope this was his favorite restaurant and the food really sucks at the new Szechuan restaurant he has to order takeout from.

He said the restaurant owner racks disciprine.

This guy is so friggin annoying.
I love his e-mail argument where he states that third parties, wholly uninvolved in the contract, discussing out of the purview of the restaurant on internet sites their understanding of similar contracts, binds the restaurant, or may do so if the restaurant has not searched out those sites and cleared up the gratuitous representations by parties unauthorized to make them. Is this what they are teaching at Harvard?

I know we are third partied whole uninvolved, but are our gratuitous representations authorized or unauthorized?

Actually the all alleged email by Edelman referred to the owner as slanty-eyed.

Duan is hilarious, and likely pretty sharp. I like when he basically says that he'd be happy to give Edelman the very redress he is demanding, but just needs to have the "authorities" that Edelman called sign off on it.
It was clear who had the upperhand in that battle of wits.

well also in light of some recent class action alleging Harvard is trying to limit Asians on campus

It was something like

"You won the war Duan, but at least your menu is not so slanty-eyed anymore"

In retrospect, it's pretty clear he didn't submit that comment. Immediately after, he posted a follow up saying that he didn't know hitting enter would submit the comment. No one could be that stupid.

It reminds me a little of the guy who let loose on the poor drive thru girl at Chic-Fil-A. At least that guy wasn't to finagle a few bucks out of her though. All this nonsense about wanting to protect the consumer came after he was shut down on the $4/$12 refund request. He's just a cheapskate with too much time on his hands.
