has anyone ever played with a pro player? (1 Viewer)

Played HS B-Ball with Tony Gonzalez. I was one year older. I still have footage of him riding the pine as a freshman. Shortly after, he returned for his sophmore season with about 30 pounds of added muscle and a newfound ability to jump out of the gym. Dude was good, but not great. He kind of blended in on a team that sent 6 guys on scholarships. We played in some pretty big tournaments against guys like Stackhouse and McCinnis when they were at Oak Hill. Stackhouse was a FREAK! Our first glimpse of him was an alley-oop reverse dunk. In HS, we had not seen a lot of those in game situations. Dude made it look effortless and pretty.
Unbelievable! Since I was only a sophmore then, I didn't get much playing time but my high school team played Oak Hill when Stackhouse was a senior and Mcginnis was a junior I think. Around 92/93. I also remember a couple of other guys on the team that weren't bad hs players either: Chris Davis and Martice Moore. Amazingly, we were only down by 4 at the half and only lost the game by 15. We gave Oak Hill everything they could handle. I grew up in a small town so our high school was only around 400 people. It was by far the best team our school had ever had. Stackhouse and Mcginnis were outstanding. This is hilarious but they had a big alley oop dunk on us too. Must've been in there playbook.

Played against Emmitt in high school. He played for Escambia High which was a 4A school, I played for Catholic High which was 1A at the time. He ran for 200+ yards against us and scored 2 or 3 times. He was a man child back then.
If true, this is very hardcore.

Forgot about Jim Catfish Hunter. It was so long ago I can't rememebr how/why it happened or how my Dad even knew him, but we ended up babysitting Catfish Hunter's dog for a few weeks one time. When we took him back, we ended up meeting Catfish at a practice for the Little League baseball team he was coaching. He split up his team and then he was the pitcher for both squads. He came over and he signed autographs for my brother and me. So, I saw a HOFer pitch a Little League practice. Last baseball story: At the opening of the new Little League complex in Kernersville, we hired Gaylord Perry to come and pitch to. For like 10 bucks, you got 1 at bat against him. A couple of our local guys took him yard. It was a standard 90 foot diamond with fences roughly what you'd see for high school fields. Gaylord pitched nearly all day. Knuckleballer.

Kernersville did send a kid to the majors. I nearly forgot, Zumwalt was a 1st ound pick of the Braves several years after I graduated. Zumwalt went to my high school.Brewers bring back Kolb, bring in Bush, prospects in deals    Dec. 8, 2005     MILWAUKEE (AP) - By the time former All-Star Dan Kolb realized he couldn't be John Smoltz, Atlanta had given up on him.So the Braves shipped him back to the Brewers in a trade Wednesday and decided to let Milwaukee deal with agent Scott Boras on a new contract for the former closer."I tried to be somebody I wasn't," Kolb said in a conference call Thursday from Las Vegas, where he was celebrating his anniversary with his wife, Joy Ann. "I tried to take over for Smoltz and do the things that he did. That's just a situation where by the time I realized and caught onto it, it was a little late."Kolb was swapped in last year's winter meetings for pitching prospect Jose Capellan and Alex Zumwalt. He was an All-Star for the Brewers in 2004 when he had a franchise-record 39 saves. The Braves made the deal last year so they could move Smoltz back into the rotation.

Dated Eric Edwards sister two years ago. Eric's not much but his sis sure is something.
I dated Vai Sikahema's cousin in college (this is true, not schtick). She was my own personal lesson in the crazy chicks being the, um, most talented.

The last football game I ever played in college was against a team from Quebec. About 2-3 months ago while unpacking and going over stuff, I found an article about that game. This french team had Slotback Wally Zatylny (former Hamilton Tigercat great). His team killed us for whatever cup we were playing for. From what I remember, he had one great punt return for a score and a few other nice runs. He was MVP for them and I was for our team. Funny thing is for years I worked with his brother and not known this odd fact.

I played against Marshall Faulk while in middle school at an invitational football tournement.I led the team in tackles...too bad I was a safety. The half of the time he didn't juke me out of my jock, I actually tackled him. It got to the point the announcer at the stadium had a little fun with me. On one shoe-string tackle, I was laying flat out face down on the ground. All I hear is "And another bone-crushing tackle by (futeki)".It was...memorable.

Being from a small Iowa town there are not many pro's around.I played against and dominated TE Dallas Clark of the Colts in football. He was a sophomore MLB and QB, I was a senior. However he is only a couple months younger than me. I still have the VHS of me pancaking him and getting some good licks on him on defense also. Played against BB point guard Dean Oliver, former Hawkeye great who has been in the NBA here and there a couple times, in a tournament. The kid truly could not be stopped. Nice person. The only other player from my conference that made it to the NBA was Lauren Meyer-Iowa State. I think he was drafted by the Suns in the 1st. He also played for the Mavericks. Before my time. However he scored over 100 points against my the high school I attended.

I played with Keith Rucker in college. He played d-line for the Cardinals, Bengals and Redskins. He was the first NCAA Division III player invited to compete in the Hula Bowl all-star game and played about 5 years in the NFL. Buddy Ryan ran him out of town in Phoenix -- I think he was always on him about his weight. I don't remember what he was listed at, but Keith was probably 380 in the off-season. He could move, though.

I had to look the numbers up, but in 1990 we went 9-1 and missed the playoffs on computer points. With Rucker at noseguard we gave up 66 points in 10 games, just 18.9 rushing yards/game (yes 189 yards allowed in 10 games!) and 78.4 passing yards/game. We lost our one game on a halfback pass in overtime to Allegheny, who went on to win the National Championship. We never got a chance to participate in the playoffs, but I believe the rushing defense is still an all-time record. It used to be a record for all divisions, but I'm not sure.

Back in HS, played on a couple of summer hoops teams with Toronto Bluejays 1st baseman Eric Hinske, the 2002 AL ROY. Only 6'2", but he was a beast underneath, and one of the toughest competitors I've ever played with.Former Panthers and Patriots WR Donald Hayes also played in those tourneys. Great B-ball player.

I used to be buddies with a guy named Clarence Jones. He was a left tackle in the NFL for ten years, and when I knew him was the starter for the Panthers. Dude was huge (6'5" 330). Played pick up hoops and football with him. Thanksfully, he was a really nice guy. Otherwise he would have just killed all of us normal siezed people. On a side note, he's one of the brightest people I know. I TA's a class that he was in (came back to Maryland to finish his degree) and the dude is smart

Growing up playing hockey in Minnesota I played with and against probably about a dozen NHL players. The amazing thing is that I don't think any of the players that are now in the NHL that I played with and against were leading scorers in the state, don't get me wrong, they were always good and for some reason most were on the top of most scouting reports (scouts must see things most people don't) but they never doninated like you think they would have and most of the players that dominated and set state scoring records didn't make it much past college and maybe a little minor hockey. Also played football against Jay Foreman (Chuck Foreman's kid) he started for Houston last season at LB but not too sure what happened to him now. He was always a good football player, fast and athletic but would have never guessed he'd play in the NFL, he played RB and Safety in HS, he was probably 6'01" 180lbs soaking wet and wasn't even the best RB on his team.
