First week is always slowest because I believe they schedule the waivers to run when all the live drafts are finished, which isn't until after midnight PT.

My feeling is that running waivers while also having dozens of ongoing drafts would strain resources (servers or whatever), so they schedule the waivers to run at a time when that strain would be much less. So the deadline to submit waivers is always the same, but the time that waivers are processed is whenever FFPC decides to run them.
It is but not until they flip the switch. And in following weeks it still takes a good 30-45 minutes after the deadline for them to process, and that is after the switch is on. So I guess it takes more processing power than I would have expected. I work with map files and video files where we're talking in terms of terabytes most of the time and it doesn't take as long to process stuff. And this is just numbers and text. Reports are generated and populated to every league and every owner. Don't know how long that takes but it's greater than 0. *shrugs*
