Has Bill Bellicheck realized he drafted the wrong Minnesota Gopher RB? (1 Viewer)

Bet he wishes he could have that pick back. Dallas gets the better Rb with a 4th round pick.
Barber was drafted in 2005 while Maroney was drafted in 2006. HTH.
Did I imply they were drafted the same year? No.NE missed their opportunity to draft Barber on the cheap and waited to draft Maroney with 1st round pick. Brilliant.
Yes, you did imply they were drafted in the same year. I don't disagree that Barber is better, but NE wasn't looking for a RB in 2005. Also, based on your logic, they missed on picking up guys like Willie Parker and every other good late pick/undrafted free agent from the past few years that they don't have. Great analysis.

Do you seriously think NFL scouts scout on just a year to year basis? They scout players throughout the entirety of their college careers. NE had Maroney on their radar well before he declared for the draft, problem is they were looking at the wrong Minnesota RB, Marion Barber was right under their nose. They scouted actively at Minnesota, and failed to determine that Barber was better than Maroney. They probably didn't scout RB's who never started at UNC, so missing on Willie Parker is irrelevant to this thread.

They should have also drafted Adrian Peterson last year. Stupid Patriots for not forcing other teams to pass on him so he could fall into the end of the first round.

I wonder if the Falcons are regretting not taking Tomlinson and instead taking Vick?

I think we need a "Thoughts without Threads" where people can just randomly post any idea that pops into their head instead of starting a new thread. It was working well for Patriots bashing.

Probably, so you don't know! I would have expected more from someone of you obvious intelligence.

Barber would also be standing on the sidelines sipping coffee while Brady throws 60 times.
:lmao: exactly what I was thinking.... no running back would look as good if they were in the PATS offense right now...I guess the case could be made for some this year that it would actually improve their numbers

True dat and although I'd probably want Barber over Maroney, I really don't think Bellichick would use him much differently. They're a passing team first because they're great at it, not because Maroney has forced them to do it.I give credit to the Patriots for recognizing their strengths and going with it 100 percent. Screw trying to balance out the pass and run to keep the defense guessing....they have the defense guessing to which receiver is going to get the ball and that's enough.

The only reason NE ever even saw Laurence Maroney was because they were scouting Barber, and Maroney just happened to be playing there. But they only had 2 picks in the draft that year before Dallas snagged him in the 4th round. They had a 1st and a 3rd, both at the end of those rounds, and with those 2 picks, they drafted their starting left guard and starting right tackle. Considering theyre undefeated in week 12 at this point, and their Oline is playing as well as any unit in the league, Im pretty sure theyve learned to live with it. Maroney still has plenty of tread left on the tires and he's only 22. And he's scored 2 TDs in the last 2 weeks. So we NE fans wont throw him and the team under the bus quite yet.

Didn't every team miss on barber? Couldn't you say the same thing about every late round pick that has ever turned out good? Do anti-Belichick posters on this board stay up nights trying to find one bad decision among thousands that he makes yearly? This is a ridiculous post. To think they had Maroney targeted a year before he came out is ridiculous enough. You never even know where you are drafting to begin with and even if they had taken maroney in the same draft as Barber this would not deserve a thread. Pick any team in the NFL and I can pick apart their draft picks and mistakes they made.

Give it a rest Patriot haters.
