September 1, 2008 4:31 PMHasselbeck returns -- Monday, 9.1.2008 practicePosted by Danny O'NeilQuarterback Matt Hasselbeck practiced for only the second time since Aug. 8. Hasselbeck said he suffered from back spasms, which actually started before the Seahawks' first exhibition game at Minnesota."My back was just in spasm because of one incident that happened on the field in practice," Hasselbeck said afterward. "Yeah, I think before that, so it just was one of the things where it was, 'Hey, let's just get this to go away for Buffalo.'"So mission accomplished, we did it. And I'm ready to go."The Seahawks had a light practice on Monday, which was not in pads and lasted less than an hour. Hasselbeck was back and preparing to start the season-opener in Buffalo. He played two series in the first quarter of the first exhibition game in Minnesota, but sat out the next three exhibition games and had not practiced the past two weeks."I think I'm 100 percent healthy, I'm probably not 100 percent in shape," Hasselbeck said. "But that's what this week is for."Today was a good start."
There are also reports that Branch has been looking good and may be ready sooner than later. For those of you who watched Hasselbeck slip to you way past his ADP this is great news. I think he should be fine even without Engram and Branch. And for the second half of the year he will be golden.

The good thing about Hasselbeck is he has proven he can deliver even with major questions around him offensively. He really hasn't had a good running attack in a few seasons and his WRs have dropped like flies the past couple of years. But he still ranked sixth in standard scoring leagues last season. I think he comes with a lot of questions due to his own health and the fact he has little proven talent to work with at WR, but he does represent very nice value right now. If you can grab him as your QB2 I think that's great value for him.

Or as part of a QBBC. He and Kitna make a nice duo.

I agree with the QBBC, Hasselbeck/Schaub would be nice too.

Haha...funny you say that because I have them both. I'm seriously considering starting Kitna this week, however. The only problem is they have a bye the same week (week 4).

I'm starting Kitna for sure this week over Hasselbeck. I'm going to play the matchups all year and once Engram/Branch come back Hass should be fantastic.
