Have we yet discussed the impact of an 18 game sched (1 Viewer)

Didn't see anything, but I imagine we've discussed this. If so, can someone provide a link.

If there isn't one, what is the thinking? If the NFL is going to have 18 games and two byes per team then it stands to reason that the byes would happen weeks 5-8 and again weeks 11-14. Doesn't that mess with fantasy quite a bit?

I'd imagine a 12 team (6 x 2 divisions) league in an 18 game (2 byes, 20 weeks total) season would run:

1-5 division opponents

6-11 non-division opponents

12-16 division opponents

17, 18, 19 Fantasy playoffs

with week 20 off just like week 17 now, due to starters resting.

If the byes are 5-8 and 11-14, with 8 teams off each week, it looks like the smart play, as it is now, is probably to value studs with byes in non-division weeks a little bit higher.

What other impacts do you think it might have?

It might be prudent to leave two free weeks at the tail end of schedules. With two more games, more teams will have their seeds locked up with two weeks or more left than under the current system. IE: We may see more teams resting stars in week 19 than we currently do in week 16.

 Not "may". We WILL see more teams resting starters wekk 19. It's almost a statistical certainty.

I totally agree. The better teams will most likely have more separation in a longer season.

Teams aren't going to be in a position to rest players in week 19 and 20 unless they've wrapped up a bye and/or homefield advantage. That means guys would sit in 19, 20, and the bye week. Teams aren't going to sit guys for a month before the playoffs.
