Hawk and Mario... (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
12-team rookie draft, dynasty w/IDP. fairly standard scoring.

Will either Hawk or Mario be available in the early 2nd? I don't think so.

Well, it's not terribly difficult to assess. List out all the players who could go before them.

1. Bush

2. D Williams

3. Maroney

4. Addai

5. White

6. Leinart

7. Young

8. Cutler

9. V Davis

10. S Holmes

11. C Jackson

12. Drew

I'd say it's reasonable to assume that any of these guys go in round 1. So will Hawk and Mario be there in early round 2? Maybe, maybe not. It all depends on how your owners view defense.

In my league, it would be surprising to see a defensive player taken in round 1. Example: Vilma went in mid round 2 back in '04.

In my dynasty league, (12 teams) scoring has a nice balance. I'm expecting both to go. If both are gone when it gets to me, we will have at least 3 IDP's go. I wouldn't be surprised to see 4.

We draft on May 13th...I'll let ya know how it played out.

i took williams at 1.11, but i definately had a need. hawk went earlier than i expected. i think 1.07?

by the fact that there is such a drop between williams and the next guy i would think that he will go late 1st or early 2nd.

In my 16 teamer, I'm inclined to think both Hawk and Mario fall into the early 2nd, but someone may reach in the 1st.If we knew Hawk would be WLB or MLB, I'd strongly consider him in the late 1st. If you could trade the pick for Vilma, would you? Similar players if Hawk were MLB.

Does anyone value Sims to be a 1st round selection? Maybe before Hawk, because on KFFL DET penciled him as the starting WLB. Hawk will probably be at SLB.

Here is how it may go....

1. Bush

2. D. Williams

3. Maroney

4. Addai

5. M. Williams-if sacks scores a lot of points

6. Leinhart

7. Young

8. Hawk-Will be a quality lb for years to come.

9. V. Davis

10. Huff- Safties get a lot of tackles

11. White

12. Holmes or Jackson

Once again, the scoring system will dictate..... in both of my 16 team leagues, D scoring is aggresive, and both of these players will be loooong gone by round 2. I see Hawk going at about 1.6 in one league (drafting to need) and Williams in the top ten as well. Part of it is how many picks one guy has compiled through trades.

Owners with three or more first round picks will tend to take IDP's like Hawk and Williams earlier, drafting to need after getting an RB or QB early. This is why looking at dynasty rookie drafts offers limited insight as to value..... teams will draft to need, often. Only consensus drafts from MANY leagues will show where the ADP actually is.

I took Hawk at 1.07. I knew that if I didn't the owner at 12, would take him, plus I look for current season production out of my first round pick and I think Hawk produces the most this year out of any rookies that were left, and our league scores defense very heavilly.

We completed our Rookie/FA draft today (53 man dynasty, 12 teams).

Our scoring is pretty balanced, in terms of offense and defense.

Round 1-3

1.09 A.J. Hawk

1.11 Ernie Sims

1.12 Chad Greenway

2.02 Michael Huff

2.05 Mario Williams

2.09 Kam Wimbley

2.10 Bobby Carpenter

2.12 DeMeco Ryans

3.02 Donte Whittner

3.03 Roger McIntosh

3.04 Manny Lawson

3.05 Abdul Hodge

3.06 Thomas Howard

3.09 Tamba Hali

3.12 D'Quell Jackson

Of course they will.

In Zealots, Williams has gone 14th or later in 21 out of 23 drafts.

16-teamer here. Big debate on the boards about this very topic. My take is that it's easier to reload defensively than on offense. Also, offensive players get a ton of hype. Each situation will be different but the first round is all about BPA.

Here are the ADP for 2 Rounds of the Zealot drafts so far

1 Bush, Reggie NOS RB

2 Maroney, Laurence NEP RB

3 Williams, DeAngelo CAR RB

4 Addai, Joseph IND RB

9 Holmes, Santonio PIT WR

10 Cutler, Jay DEN QB

11 Hawk, A.J. GBP LB

FYI, TOCOL had Hawk go at 1.12 & Williams go at 2.01. 14 team league with full 11 players on D, pretty knowledgeable owners.

12 team league with rookie draft in 3 weeks. I'm guesstimating Hawk goes at the tail end of the first round. Williams will go early 2nd. I'm 99.9% certain that the owner picking ahead of me (5th) will take Mario if he's there in round 2.

All of these leagues are 2pts/tackle and 1pt/asst
