Haynesworth: "Belichick Does It Again" (1 Viewer)

Getting a rook replacement or ANY free agent that would be respectable would have been a better route. This was pure coaching ego being stroked by BB. Testaverde had thrown about 100 INTs in his first five years and suddenly with a dash of BB coaching, he'd be as good as Montana. Ummm not happening. It's OK. Every coach has probably done something like that. Shanny seems to be the most guilty and they won't know unless they try.
you are letting your emotions cloud your memory. VT was brought in to be the BACKUP- as a replacement for Todd Phicox and Mike Tomzack who combined for 9 starts in 1992 because Kosar was injured for half the year.

The Belichick thing is just an angle. The NFL likes angles. Belichick is a genius, Peyton is a field general, Favre is like a little kid out there. It's part of the NFL's attempts to appeal to the casual fan.

The league doesn't worry too much about the hard-core fan. They'll be there no matter what. They don't need angles. But casual fans like stories to follow, roles played out and characters to root for and against.

So yes, whatever Belichick does will be seen as a "genius move." If Favre throws three picks he's a "gunslinger" instead of a moron. There's no sense in lamenting the fact that the person doesn't really match the character they're given. They do a little bit, but not necessarily enough to justify the label.

In my opinion, hard-core fans shouldn't worry about the little games the league plays to make their game easier to digest. They'll just give you headaches.

Belichick's draft this year was laughable and so has some in years past. So he's not without fault. Funny when other teams pickup troubled players they are ridiculed, but with BB does it, it's genius.
Figured it's worth re-visiting to see if you still think Nate Solder, Shane Vereen, Stevan Ridley, Ryan Mallett and Marcus Cannon are still laughable? Granted Ras-I Dowling never worked out because he is oft-injured but just checking if you are still laughing at this draft?
