Not sure what I am going to do with my Sundays now. With Bill and Tom gone, not sure I will have the same enthusiasm and desire to watch the Pats looking like they did in the early 90's. Do I really have to start spending Sundays with my wife now (who I've been with the entirety of the TB12 / BB era)? Is that something husbands do with their wives? This is uncharted territory for me.

I am re-energized…I love BB but once he hired Patricia as OC it was over and listening to the excuses was getting old because it was so obvious they were heading down the wrong path…I trust the Krafts to do the right thing and for the first time in about 10 years I am looking forward to a draft where the goal isn’t to beef up special teams.

The Pats did that in the first half, using a young Jon Jones head-up on Tyreek Hill but having Devin McCourty almost always on Hill's side, eliminating the big play ability early. They also put a corner on Travis Kelce. No one operated that way or had success when they did until then. The Chiefs had 32 yards at the half, and Patrick Mahomes was sacked thrice for 43 yards.

This only tells half the story. The best part of this game was Andy Reid adjusting and the Chiefs put up 31 in the second half to put them into position to win that game. With essentially a rookie QB (I know he sat the previous year).

Mahomes finished with 295 yards and 3 TD's, one to Kelce. Reid figured out that he needed to use his backs against that defense: Damien Williams had 2 receiving TD's and 1 rushing. The Chiefs defense was terrible (Bob Sutton), and we know the rest of the story.

A great chess match game between two hall of famers.

One of the most underrated games of the BB/Brady era because it was one of the few times since that first Super Bowl that they were a legit underdog.

It will be interesting to see how the Chiefs with Mahomes do in a playoff road game. In the playoffs, he's played in 13 home games and 3 neutral site SB games.

I fully expect some head scratching draft picks and overpriced free agent signings. But I suppose that's all part of the fun in starting over.

Except the one thing you have as an advantage is strong ownership. They did this at the exact right time and in a very classy manner. They will figure it out.

I faced that scenario with my wife when the Chargers left San Diego. I first introduced her to Red Zone (she loved it cuz no commercials and constant action) then got her to "help me" with my lineups on Sundays and then said why don't we get you your own team? It actually worked. She's as hooked as I am.

I think they get bamboozled in KC they're an old tired team void of offensive firepower, lousy offensive coaching, no defense, can't stop the run, can't catch Miami speedsters. they're in a freefalling aircraft, and I bet they beat the ambulance to the crash site by a half hour.

Maurice Carthon a Giants former FB had been brought to Dallas as the OC (more run game coordinator) under Parcells and they were not that good a team with Quincy Carter as the QB. They did pretty well one year looking like a typical Parcells offense but they faded. Carthon didn't do much with Dilfer as his QB in Cleveland and was done.

Todd Haley, Payton, Sporano...idk who Belichick knows but there's a pretty good history for Belichick to ask people about Jerry Jones and it always seemed to me(then) like a bad marriage sooo I'm not so sure Belichick wants to go there

All good points, but if Bill's goal is to beat Shula's record, then he needs to take over a team with talented players, and Dallas has that. Whereas Parcells walked into a situation where the talent was pretty bare -- and IIRC only got back into coaching because he needed money after a divorce settlement.

One big thing you are forgetting here…The Kraft/Parcells divorce was ugly…a lot of bad blood that lasted during his time with the Jets…if BB was leaning on Parcells for advice there was no way he would have ended up back in Foxboro…BB is making his own decisions…making decisions is one area that he does not help with…as far as his next destination is I think it depends on what his motivation is…if it is to break Shula’s record or win a title ASAP Dallas is his best bet (assuming they fire McCarthy)…if it is having full control then Dallas doesn’t make sense…prior to yesterday’s Dallas implosion there was a lot of chatter about Atlanta which on the surface seems like an interesting choice…not sure if he has connections there but I gotta believe if he does go there there is a good chance it will be with a lot of power within the organization.

They've had 2-3 depending on what Moore was making. Quinn's salary has been reported to be head coach money.

I don't think you want anymore of those types on your team, to many voices. Carolina was a team this last year that tried to put an All-Star staff togehter and that's one of the reasons it failed, to many voices.

Fangio is a good case study. Highly rated top-10 defenses with great players, especially pass rushers, low bottom-10 defenses when he had poor pass rushers. In recent memory, Flores was able to do well for stretches without superstars. I think position coaches such as oline can make a difference.

I disagree. Almost everybody in the NFL is a QB away from 10-7 or so. 11-6 is a tall order but a good QB gets it done.

Even then, BB is 72 by start of next season. Even if they did happen to hit on a QB, he won't be at SB level until say....BB is 74 or 75, and by then contracts/players/talent on the team will have shifted around a ton.

Maybe not, but while it's early, it doesn't seem like every team is running out to get him - so his options may be limited despite his historical success. Everyone on Twitter is trying to connect the dots to the Cowboys, but right now that is all idle speculation. Maybe that changes in the next few days - we'll see. Or it may just come down to Atlanta or wait for Hoodie.

Totally guessing on this...on the surface there is no easy connection to point to unless there is a relationship there we don't know about (and maybe there is)...there isn't something easy to point at like there would be with Dallas (very good team so he can get to the record quickly, relationship with Jerry, legacy franchise) or Washington (he grew up there, not too far from Nantucket, legacy franchise)...so, if I had to guess maybe they are the only one to give him the control he wants (Carolina might but would he want to work for Tepper...and that team is kind of a mess)...other than that it does seem like kind of an odd landing spot for him.

I don't get the appeal of Atlanta. BB is like TB in that, if you put him in a great situation in the twilight of his career, the sky is the limit. It's not a coincidence that Brady went to a team that truly seemed to be a quarterback away from a run.

So what team is a coach away from contending? Cowboys? Chargers? Vikings? Certainly not the Falcons. The Cowboys seem ideal. BB has maybe a few years left to coach, and, well, Jerry is 80+. Seems like they both have about a three-year window to realize their goals.

The NFC South is the weakest division in the NFL currently, so it offers the path of least resistance in terms of getting wins and a playoff berth. Atlanta has a strong defense in place and playmakers on offense, just needs competent QB play and a head coach who knows the strengths of his players and will actually use them to their potential. The Falcons had the easiest schedule and really should have won their division this season but Arthur Smith staked his job on Desmond Ridder being enough for them at QB and it backfired. There’s enough already in place for BB to succeed. It’s just a question of if he’ll have the desired amount of control, considering McKay and Fontenot are still there overseeing their personnel decisions.

The Chargers fired both their HC and GM so that may be the most appealing destination as far as a team that has a franchise QB in place and a need for leadership. But that seat may be taken by Jim Harbaugh soon. I’m still thinking Dallas is Belichick’s destination, but maybe Philadelphia is a surprise candidate if they decide to fire Nick Sirianni.

Belichick/Cousins pairing gets Bill the wins record, a couple of playoff runs, and possibly 1 more Super Bowl appearance and possibly one more ring.

...at least that's what I'd like to see.

Pure speculation on my part. Sure would be neat if it actually came to pass.
