Heading to Norris Lake, TN area next week, what to do? (1 Viewer)

My wife, kids and I plus two other couples have rented a house on Norris Lake, Tennessee next week. We're staying on the water in Speedwell I believe. None of us have been there before and we do not have tour guides. I thought I'd check in to see what you guys think are the must-see's or must do's in this part of the country.

Do you have a boat? We had a ton of fun just riding around to different spots on the lake swimming, chilling, imbibing, etc.

I also took a charter out one morning to go Striper fishing and had a blast. The guide provided bait, poles, and took us to the best spots. I've been wanting to go back ever since.

We are renting a pontoon boat for the week. We will definitely be swimming, chilling, imbibing and the kids will be tubing.

I read "Striper fishing" as "Stripper fishing". None of us are avid fishermen. I could see doing a charter if we were going with strippers, or fishing for something edible, but it's doubtful any of us would go for the sport of it, just to catch and release.

Is there anything nearby that would be worth leaving the lake for a day to go and do?

Isn't that right outside Gatlinburg? You're pretty close to Smoky Mountains National Park for some hikes, ziplining, or rafting.

There's a park at Norris Dam. You can walk some trails and see deer and such, if that's your thing. It's about an hour drive to get to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg if you want to go to Dollywood or do the tourist trap stuff.

It's been years since I've been there but I remember there was this food item the natives all loved. I think it was a chili bun. They would go to the local food plaza/gas station and get that abomination. If you want to have explosive diarrhea find this place.

We are renting a boat from the Norris Dam marina, so I will check out the park.

I could do without touristy stuff like Dollywood, but I appreciate the suggestions.
