Help me build a draft plan... (1 Viewer)

Unless someone can point me to a shortcut (and people don't want to do this exercise), who might be interested in working on a "Perfect Draft" for me - at least through say 8 or 10 rounds.

FBG's does it for football, and what a perfect tool it would be for a clueless noob like me come draft day.

FWIW, 5 x 5 traditional set up, 12 teams...

who will be there at pick 8, then around the turn - and what are the likely decisions in later rounds?

Anyone up for it?

1.08 Prince Fielder/Ryan Howard

2.17 Jake Peavy

3.32 Aramis Ramirez

4.41 Russell Martin

5.56 Corey Hart

6.65 Gary Sheffield

7.80 Rafael Furcal

8.89 Jeff Francouer

9.104 Fransisco Liriano

10.113 Rickie Weeks

11.128 Ben Sheets

12.137 Willy Tavares

13.152 Manny Corpas

14.161 Pedro Martinez

15.176 Clay Buchholz

16.185 Joe Bo

17.200 Troy Percival

18.209 Rafael Betancourt

19.224 Heath Bell

20.233 Joey Votto

21.248 Yunel Escobar

22.257 Greg Maddux

You're welcome.

I don't think it's possible for roto. You can't be so committed to a strategy, even a sound one, that you can't react to value, category needs and position runs.

It would be easier in a points based league since you can calculate floor and ceiling estimates by player and position, and calculate VBD and position drop offs. But the math is much more complex when you're optimizing over five scoring categories. Chone Figgins and Aramis Ramirez play the same position but contribute in different ways. If you pick Figgins, then the equation changes for Adam Dunn vs. Curtis Granderson. And so on for the remainder of the draft.

My advice would be to find some decent tiered rankings, annotate them with some category +/- so you don't inadvertantly end up punting a category. Take part in a mock if you can, so you can get a feel for draft dynamics. Be patient with pitchers; an early run means more bats for you. ID a group of late round guys you'd be willing to pick, but don't panic if someone picks them early.

Thanks for the advice. As it stands, this is what I plan to do - come up with some tiered rankings based mostly upon a couple online sites and some mocks with a little (minimal) input from me and hope for the best.
