Help me find a 75-80" 4K tv with HDR (1 Viewer)

Gianni Verscotchie

Footballguy
I need a new TV and am looking for a good deal.

I think I want HDR10 for gaming on the Xbox one s, but I'm all ears when it comes to suggestions.

Thanks

After an hour or so researching this, it looks like there are very few 80" options in my price range (less than $4k).

The 75" LG 75UH8500 is the current front runner. ~$3,000

Supports HDR10 & Dolby Vision, low input lag, low fast motion blur (sports).

Any thoughts?

You'd be happier with a 65" OLED.

Too small. Maybe as a 2nd TV.

I took delivery of the 75" today. HDR is nice. I'm happy.

You must not have seen the vizio's I linked.  The pics are very close.

No, they aren't. Same as all the dolts saying LEDs had better pictures than plasmas.

ETA The Pioneer Kuro was the reference TV until LG's OLED came out. It blew the Kuro away.

I've seen both side to side.  OLED is better but it's close.  The Vizio's are fantastic.

Sorry your eyes are broken. Both calibrated? Same lighting? No offense but anything Vizio isn't fantastic, that would be the LG OLED. The Vizio is more like the best of the LEDs vs the best ever.

ETA there isn't a TV out there that can be fantastic that has poor off axis viewing which ALL LCDs have. Something that plasmas and OLEDs don't have a problem with.

I'm not going to argue with you since you seem to be a ####, but price/performance the Vizio kills OLED.  It's the classic 2x price for 10% improved picture quality.

I believe you resorted to name calling, not me. Vizio's off axis viewing of 20 degrees really does suck, LG is at 84. It's also not a 10% improvement, especially considering off axis it's more like 30% minimum.

And ironically the TV you linked costs MORE than an OLED, which unfortunately isn't available in a 75". The P65 version is roughly 2k where the LG 65 is 2800....so it's more like 1.4x? So not the classic 2x for 10% improvement.

OP, do your own research and decide for yourself.  Yes, OLED generally has a great picture.  I will offer though that the Vizio P series offers the best price/performance value in the market today.  Go to Best Buy or the like and judge for yourself.

You seem to be taking this personally.

Agreeing with this seeing them side by side.. the OLED is better, but "meh" on the difference.

May still end up buying the OLED because I have a complex about buying the best once I commit to buying at all.

Here's Cnet's review of the P Series.  Full disclosure, I was going to buy an OLED in Spring when this tv dropped.  After seeing both I couldn't see paying the extra $ for OLED.  While viewing angles may be an issue with LCD, it's never come up in my everyday viewing.  The worst thing about this tv is the tablet remote and and you don't have to use it if you don't want and it functions just fine as a small tablet.

Netflix 4k is stunning.

Options are pretty limited in the 75+ class with HDR.

Before buying the LG UH8500, I narrowed mine down to:

1) LG 75UH8500 - $3,000 - Good off axis viewing, good in bright rooms, very good upscaling, 3D, weakest in dark rooms, decent input lag

2) Sony XBR 75X850D - $3,300 - Good off axis, better black levels, brighter output, excellent upscaling, horrible input lag (deal breaker)

3) Vizio P75-C1 - $3,600 - Excellent picture, great black levels, very bright, decent input lag, narrow field of view, weak upscaling, issues with Xbox One & HDR (should be updated)

4) Vizio M80-D3 - $3,800 - Biggest screen, Very Good picture, Weak upscaling, Not truly capable of HDR - not enough brightness.

My dream set would be an 85" OLED, but it will be a long time before I can afford one of those.
