Help me get excited about drafting at #11 (1 Viewer)

QB- Robert Griffin III, Jay Cutler

RB- Matt Forte, Trent Richardson, Doug Martin, Ryan Williams, Jon Dwyer, Tim Hightower

WR- Steve Johnson, Miles Austin, Reggie Wayne, Denarius Moore, Brandon Lafell

TE- Jimmy Graham

K- Gostkowski

DEF- Eagles

In conclusion- I like it. It's kinda old-school with the very strong RB corps. I think my strength at RB and TE, combined with a solid WR group (solid, not great) will help overcome a slight weakness at QB.
So you are hoping to win with 2 of your top 3 running backs being rookies and your top 2 wideouts are marginal at best. Good luck with that.edit after seeing Griffin is your starter. Christ Almighty dude.
Don't know what to tell you, that's a solid team. Best projected RB corps in the whole league, stud TE, solid WRs, slight weakness at QB. y
based on what?

Julio is going to be flying off the draft boards this year.....
I just cannot wrap my brain around that. Not that he is going to have a bad year just that he is going wr #2 right now. Simply insane.
Because he is an absolute beast... and in a couple of years we won't even be talking about Roddy White... i mean the dude had 960 rec yds, 55 catches, and 8 tds in only 10 games last year.. in his rookie YEAR!

He is like the next T.O. with the ability to break tackles and take it to the house on any play..

88 rec, 1534 yds, 13 tds if he played the whole season at that rate... and that was without training camp... in his last 4 games last year when he was finally completely healthy again his statline was 3 rec 104 yds 2 tds; 5 rec 85 yds 1 td; 8 rec 128 yds 1 td; 4 rec 76 yds 2tds; that equates to 20 rec, 393 yds 6 tds in his last 4 games... over the course of a season that would equate to 80 receptions, 1572 yds, and 24 tds... now the TD's are a little over rated there... maybe more like 15tds... but that is very possible with this guy...i can't imagine him getting anything less than 80 rec, 1400 yds, and 9-11 tds... not to mention did you see him in preseason already in one quarter of action?? he was unstoppable... wrap your mind around that

So I'm sitting in the airport yesterday and the owner with the #5 picks offers his pick and a 6 pack of Modelo's for my #11 pick. I took it. I didn't like any of the RB's looking to be there other than McFadden and I bet he will be gone by then. If no RB I would be looking at a Julio/Stafford type start (nothing wrong with that) but feel I could get a surer think at QB (if Calvin gets dinged Stafford loses a lot of luster, where Rodgers, Brady and Brees have multiple weapons). Keep in mind 6 point all TD league and 5 point bonuses for 300 yards. No TE mandatory.

I will get Rodgers or Brady (unless a McCoy somehow slips - possible) then build from there. I really think with all of the question marks a solid RB will drop to me with the 7th pick of the 2nd round but I will take best player available, and then I have lots of flexibility drafting RB's/WR's the rest of the draft, not even having to think about the QB position. In our league, it's nice to get 30-40 points/week locked in at the QB position, and QB's who average 3-4 TD's a week and have 8-10 300 yard games a week are pure gold.

So, I'm officially a sell out.

Bump.

Just got the word that I draft 11th.

I have not had this pick in any of my other drafts.

Hoping a top QB, CJ2k or DMF falls. Afer that, I do not like.

I can't think of a better starting 5 picks in any draft, at any draft position. I'd like to see the first 14 picks where Calvin and McFadden both fell to you. And Julio at #35? By way of comparison, McFadden went #9 in our draft, and that owner came back in round 2 to get Julio Jones. You got Calvin Johnson, and THEN those two? Unbelievable.

In truth, only about 3/4 of the guys seem to know what they're doing, and that's after at least 4 years experience (some have been doing this longer). The "conventional wisdom" this year seemed to be go QB early at all cost. So I sat and waited.

1 Matthew Stafford, Det QB

2 Aaron Rodgers, GB QB

3 Drew Brees, NO QB

4 Arian Foster, Hou RB

5 Ray Rice, Bal RB

6 LeSean McCoy, Phi RB

7 Maurice Jones-Drew, Jac RB

8 Tom Brady, NE QB

9 Matt Ryan, Atl QB

10 Cam Newton, Car QB

11 Calvin Johnson, Det WR

12 Chris Johnson, Ten RB

The Ryan pick was crazy, and probably spurred the Newton pick.

13 Andre Johnson, Hou WR

14 Darren McFadden, Oak RB

15 Greg Jennings, GB WR

16 Matt Forte, Chi RB

17 Larry Fitzgerald, Ari WR

18 Marshawn Lynch, Sea RB

19 Roddy White, Atl WR

20 Adrian Peterson, Min RB

21 Rob Gronkowski, NE TE

22 Jimmy Graham, NO TE

23 DeMarco Murray, Dal RB

24 Michael Turner, Atl RB

Nothing too crazy here.

25 Hakeem Nicks, NYG WR

26 Mike Wallace, Pit WR

27 Jamaal Charles, KC RB

28 Eli Manning, NYG QB

29 Steven Jackson, StL RB

30 Wes Welker, NE WR

31 A.J. Green, Cin WR

32 Ryan Mathews, SD RB

33 Vernon Davis, SF TE

34 Fred Jackson, Buf RB

35 Julio Jones, Atl WR

36 Ben Roethlisberger, Pit QB

Really, other than Ben, I can't point to anything too outlandish here (but I'd already picked). I like Julio better than Wallace, Welker and Green, but

Took Marshall and figured I'd buy some lottery tix on RBs. Should find some value with Doug Martin, Ingram, Leshoure and Donald Brown as a 2nd RB to McFadden. Taiwan is still out there in the event of an emergency. If the rest of the RBs look weak, I may hedge (limit of 5 RBs per roster - not a rule I like, but have to live with).

Would have liked a better DEF, but with the first going off at 5.01 (SF), no way I was getting one early.

Classic value based draft.
