Hey Dude, check this out: Cleveland or Chattanooga.  I am very familiar with most areas from Louisville, KY down to Marietta, GA or so and I, myself, have just settled into a lovely remote are of Northwest NC. But since you say Tenn, the areas I mentioned are very nice and very accessible to other areas quickly. there is also great outdoors activities and the prices are right.  really nice areas. Hope this helps.

That’s where my brother lives. It’s actually an unicorporated place called laguardo. I’ve been there several times and it’s pretty nice. Close to I-40 to go into Nashville. 

But if I was retiring to Tennessee I might pick the Smoky Mountain area unless you feel the need to be closer to a big city. 

Yes I am a big fan of East Tennessee and the mountains. Somewhere I may be looking when I’m older and kids out of the house and settled.
