help with buying a trail camera (1 Viewer)

have a friend that wants to buy a good trail camera for her dad for xmas.  he has a bear, some coyotes and a tweaker that regularly visit his property. 

she wants a free (no subscription) solution to getting a camera that will transmit photos of motion events to his phone.  infrared is a must.

Ive been wanting to buy a few for my hunting area, I’m thinking they might go on sale after hunting season and Christmas but who knows

No subscription, free solution that transmits photos to his phone? Someone will find bigfoot on a trail camera before you find such a thing. I think my Browning was less than $200, and it's $12 a month IIRC.

I'm also looking for a trail camera or two to help photograph and identify the license plates of thieves that are stealing the wiring from our pumps and wells.

These would be conspicuously attached to some trees along a roadway.

Any suggestions for those that have a night vision trail camera that write to an SD card?

If theft happened, we would go retrieve the photos from the SD cards.

Open to other suggestions as well.  Thank you.

We recently had a guy drive through our hunting property in the day time, and it was a little too grainy to see the license plate info. It would've been impossible on a night vision type of photo as the plate would likely just look all white.

Bummer.  I would assume with the 4k/1080p camera technologies, that this would not be the case.  Thanks for the reply.

I wouldn't say that's a high MP camera, but if it's mostly happening at night, I don't think it would matter all that much. The pictures are just black and white with a lot of wash out. I had an older, flash camera long ago which would probably do it.

Also, there's a red light flash on most of them. If you are that worried about it getting stolen as well and want to try it, look for black out/no glow... something like that. The red light probably wouldn't be noticed by someone in a car, but definitely would be by someone on foot.
