Henry and Scheffler sit out practice (1 Viewer)

Scheffler was starting to gain some fantasy value and wham, aggrivated his right knee / ankle.

Henry sat out because, if I recall correctly, a bruised chest.

Travis Henry (ribs) missed practice Wednesday.

"Travis is a little sore right now," coach Mike Shanahan said. The Broncos tend to hold players out of early-week practices quite frequently, so it's only a concern for Henry's fantasy owners if he continues to miss workouts.

(KFFL) Bill Williamson, of The Denver Post, reports Denver Broncos TE Tony Scheffler (leg) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 24. He is considered day-to-day.

If Henry can't go or is limited it should tell a lot about what the Young/Hall/Bell/Sapp situation will be later in the season.

It's really going to boil down to whether or not the O can stretch the defense or not. I really felt that Scheffler was key to opening up some of the running game for Henry against Ptt's stout defense. A shame that it appears as though he may have re-aggravated his broken foot.

With Witten on a bye I'm going with either Scheffler or Lee. The first person to clear up the "did he practice or not" gets a cookie.

Henry is tough and isn't affraid to play hurt. I'd expect him to play. If I remember correctly, I believe he played with a very painful chest injury for a period of a season in Buffalo and played well despite the pain.

From the Denver Broncos official website:
OTHER INJURY NEWS: Defensive tackle Sam Adams (team decision) and running back Travis Henry (ribs) did not participate in Wednesday's practice, while cornerback Champ Bailey (quadriceps) was limited.

Safety Hamza Abdullah (hip), Bly (shoulder), and tight end Tony Scheffler (lower leg) participated fully.

has he played a game while not hurt somehow?

Thank you. Chocolate chip? Sugar? Oatmeal raisin?

 Every likes to talk about how tough Henry is and how he always plays hurt, but no one likes to mention the fact that he's made of crystal.

I think both are good plays this week. The Packers and Broncos have both struggled badly to stop opposing TEs and so there should be plenty of potential production for Lee and Scheffler this week. As far as the Packers' run defense, it is a solid group but it's not immune to giving up big days. Westbrook got 85 yards on them in Week 1; Ward got 90 on them in Week 2; Peterson 112 in Week 4 and Benson scored in Week 5. So while I think it's not a great matchup for Henry I don't think it's a really horrible one for him either.

But it's very tough crystal, dammit! :hot:

You would think that Henry would want to get as much game in before he takes a year off. He'll probably play if hurting.

do the Packers run a 4-3? The trend that Denver struggles vs a 3-4 has held true this season - as long as GB is in a 4-3, than I wouldn't worry about Henry struggling vs the Pack.

Packers have a 4-3 base defense.

Per RW:

Travis Henry-RB- Broncos Oct. 25 - 9:32 am et Travis Henry "looked to be laboring just walking around the practice field" at Broncos practice on Wednesday.Henry (ribs) sat out practice and head coach Mike Shanahan said his running back "is a little sore right now". It is still early in the week, but if Henry does not practice by Friday, that would likely be bad news for his fantasy owners. His status is in doubt, but hopefully fantasy owners have Selvin Young on their roster.
Not looking too great...Whats the word on Denver sports talk radio? Local blogs? I guess I'm spoiled since we here in DC have the best (up to the second) beat writer blog in the country.... :hot:

And how many games has he missed so far this year? What's the difference if he's still out on the field?

Travis Henry "looked to be laboring just walking around the practice field" at Broncos practice on Wednesday.

Impact: Henry (ribs) sat out practice and head coach Mike Shanahan said his running back "is a little sore right now". It is still early in the week, but if Henry does not practice by Friday, that would likely be bad news for his fantasy owners. Perhaps some weed will help for medicinal purposes.

With Walker out, I'd be quite surprised if Scheffler didn't end the year as an every week starter. I see him the Top 7-8 over the 2nd half of the year.

Per sportsline:

Travis Henry, RB DEN

News: Broncos RB Travis Henry (bruised ribs) didn't practice Wednesday. Henry said he's confident he'll play against the Packers. He'll also wear extra padding around the ribs. "That's the plan," Henry said. "The ribs are sore, just got to let it settle down."

Analysis: Continue to monitor what develops for Henry this week, but it's a good sign that he expects to play. Consider him a No. 2 Fantasy RB this week against the Packers.

Profile

It's hard to say. If I had to bet, I would start him. Heck, I have to start him. But he has played through worse, right? They have said it's just pain threshhold -- no cracks or anything. And I definitely read he is going to put extra rib padding on and play.

He's going to play. Extra protection via a vest or something around his rib area, but he's going to play. How many carries he gets, well that's another topic.

This can't be happening. I'm facing the number one guy with most of his good players injured, on bye, or facing bad matchups.

Nooooooooooooo!

Denver Broncos

Questionable

News: Henry (ribs) did not participate in practice Thursday, the Broncos' official site reports.

Spin: We hope to get some clarification of Henry's Week 8 status in the next couple of days. The Broncos play Monday night and it wouldn't surprise us if Henry ends up being classed as a game-time decision.

did Henry practice Thursday?
No link, but I don't think so. Can't remember where I saw it but he was talked about playing without practicing. All I got, sorry.
I am just hoping to hear something other than a GTD for monday night.
I was just thinking that since the game is on Monday the chances of Henry playing are that much better. No way, IMO, that he sits.
FWIW when I did a study in 2005 of injured fantasy starters, I found that injured players played at a 69.4% clip on Monday night compared to 65.4% on Sunday afternoon. However the small sample size of Monday night games may make that 4% difference irrelevant.

The Sports Network reports Denver Broncos RB Travis Henry (ribs) returned to practice Friday, Oct. 26, but is listed as questionable for Week 8.

This is from John Clayton's Friday injury report on ESPN.com about Henry. Nothing real definitive:

Henry's ribs are too sore to practice. While he is tough enough to play despite the pain, it's not out of the question for him to sit out.

I just dont see him being a good play this weekend. If he goes, it will only take a couple plays for him to get hit in those ribs again. Regardless of what padding he wears, if his ribs a sore, he wont be able to handle a full games pounding.
