HEY TOM- (1 Viewer)

How old and finished does Moss have to be before some people figure out his skills have deteriorated? The fact that Moss did nothing after leaving NE is a pretty good indication they figured out the right time to discard him. Are you one of those guys who thinks Barry Sanders can still play too?

Jerry Rice looks good in those Van Heusen commercials... Is he worth a waiver pick up??

Devils advocate here, but didn't moss look pretty finished on Oakland too....?
It was pretty well known he tanked in OAK intentionally because he didn't care. And he wasn't 35 way back then either.
Not that it matters much no, but this simply isn't true. A lot of people thought Moss was done when he left Oakland. A one trick pony who had lost his trick.
Well, I knew at the time that he was tanking, as did many others, so to say it simply isn't true is nonsense. In fact, I wrote a song about it for YouTube after a pathetically memorable Monday night game in Seattle that year (sung by BigBottom from this message board). A quote after that game from him was "They don't care, why should I?" and I incorporated that quote in the song. So, absolutely people believed at the time that he just didn't give a rat's ###.

Just because you were right about it and believed it doesn't mean the majority did. I agree that perhaps you and some others knew he was tanking. I was in agreement with you back then in that he was simply not mentally in the game. I recall defending that position pretty strongly vs. the "Moss is done" crowd. I really don't want to dig through the past threads, but IIRC, the majority thought he was simply not the same player or athlete anymore. Again, it doesn't matter at this point. I just seem to have a different recollection of it than you.

The Pats miss Law, Samuel, Seymour, McGinnest, Harrison, Milloy, Vrabel, and a host of other defenders far more than they miss Randy Moss.
