Highest you have seen LaPorta go in redraft? (1 Viewer)

Seeing some pros suggesting him at the 1-2 turn ( not te prem; ppr)

What’s the highest you have seen? If it’s the 1-2 turn, how does that team look?

I took him at 3.10 in a 12 team PPR league because I loved rooting for him last year, and even that felt like a little bit of a reach. As I understand, he’s been going primarily in the second round in 12 team redraft leagues.

Actually, this isn't that far off.

If you assume that your first 6 picks are going to be the same except
in round 2 you take Laporta in one group
in round 6 you take a TE in the other group

only the 2 pick and 6 pick should be different when comparing teams
using the projections that I have i get a 17 point difference over the season or a point a week

interesting

But what are you losing at RB or WR that you could have had in the 2nd? If it’s more than 1 point a week, yeah.

I would ask you to test it with your projections.

Round 2 is like Laporta vs Barkley
Round 6 would be like Kincaid vs Rice or whoever you would have with that pick

In non TE-premium, I wouldn't even take him at the 1-2 turn if I believed he was a good pick because there is at least a chance he is available at the end of the 3rd. If you think Laporta is debatable at the 1-2 turn, you should view him as a possible league winner at the 3-4 turn.

Rice is not typically available in the 6th. He’s been regularly going in the 4th lately.

Tell me in half ppr who you got at 2.01 and 6.01 and I will do the math
Half PPR changes things because RBs come more into play.

Spitballing you’re probably looking at pick 32 (sleeper), but we’re talking about reaching for him here, which I’ve most often seen at the end of the 2nd. So let’s say 2.09, not 2.01 - I’ve seen dozens of real drafts and haven’t seen LaPorta go that early.

RB at 2.09 - Pacheco, Henry, Jacobs, AJones, Achane
WR at 2.09 - Adams, Olave, Deebo, Nico, Kupp

TE at 6.01 - Pitts, Kittle, Engram, Fergusen
RB at 6.01 - Higgins, Pickens, McLauren, Odunze
RB at 6.01 - Monty, RS, Najee, ZWhite, Mostert

It’s a mixed bag. IF we only go by ADP (which would also include Rashee Rice, that doesn’t seem realistic any more) then it’s hard to say.

Maybe it’s worth LaPorta’s +1 PPG vs the drop off at RB or WR. Maybe not.

I’d probably lean “not” and wait until the 5th-6th for my TE1.

Seems like a sign to ignore said pros in the future.
If by “pros”, you mean Fantasy Football writers, I’m not sure that’s a valid statement. Fantasy Football writers get stuff wrong all the time, every year, year after year.

If by “pros“ you mean, professional fantasy football players, I don’t think I’ve seen any evidence that they’re taking Sam Laporta at the one to turn. I would be very skeptical about that claim if that was made.

A couple of recent drafts, although one is auction it still may say something in that I don't believe he should be valued WELL over these other guys. I have actually not seen Laporta being the first tight end of the board. Whether it actually happens or not, I personally still think TD regression is a concern for him. I think you'd be crazy to take Laporta in the 1-2 turn, knowing what you can get a few rounds later. But also factors into whether your league goes on runs or not and whether you somewhat start it drafting him.
