"Hillis will get the majority of carries" (1 Viewer)

Reads like coach speak. Shurmur's going to use everybody. Yay! He should be saying he promises to stop rolling out ridiculous amounts of personnel packages and just keep his best players on the field. That's what I want to hear, anyway.

Lots of "Negative Nelly's" around here (or...maybe....just maybe M.H. owners).

If you want to get TECHNICAL about it...yes...."majority" could be "51%" of the carries. But, IMO.......Coach Shurmur is hinting more at a 70-30 split. If you're a Hillis owner, there appears to be some hope on the horizon.

We'll see soon enough.

spare us your adhoms. for the record, i own both.and i'm not being TECHNICAL, i'm being skeptical -- it's not the best idea to take coachspeak as gospel, especially during contract negotiations. yes, it was already a good bet that hillis will return to form, but not on the basis of fluff pieces like this one. you must be a hillis owner, etc.

I actually have both in one dynasty and would prefer they just gave the ball to Hillis. I just didn't understand the "news" as I thought it was a given that Hillis would get the majority of the carries. They've only played 4 games and Hillis missed one - in the three others he has.

Next time you attempt to sound intelligent........at least spell the term correctly. It's "ad homs"....not "adhoms". Yes, I own Hillis, and watching Hardesty drop four passes in the previous game had me wondering why Hillis (and his superior hands) weren't in the game.

Where does it say 70-30 split?

I don't own either, but this to me sounds like it is coming from the exact same source as the previous. And it certainly seems like coach speak and may very well mean 70% or may mean "however the game plays out". You obviously want to believe it means 70%, so roll with it.

Sorry, I thought I missed it in the article, that's all.

Magnum, check out this thread.

The Hardesty owners are all over Hillis for being sick in week 3. Shurmur then tried to get fancy and give the less talented Hardesty more touches. Hardesty had some really bad drops in week 4 and then the media was all over it. Shurmur then promises that Hillis is the main guy.

We are all interested to see the week 6 touches for Cleveland.

is there a reason for this? grow up.
at least spell the term correctly. It's "ad homs"....not "adhoms".
next time you attempt to correct a term, at least get it right. it's 'ad hominem', not 'ad hom' -- and besides, 'adhom' is a common abbreviation in rhetoric. if your only counterargument is to go all grammar nazi, maybe just mock my minuscule instead of overreaching yourself, especially since apparently you can't tell a proper ellipses from a poptart.

gosh, if only there were some coachspeak to answer this question, too. probably something about coming back from strep throat.

yes, 51% or greater. that's what 'bulk' means.just because shurmur is working through his roget's doesn't mean he's really saying anything. if you're going to take him at face value, at least pay attention to his word choice.

If you believe that "bulk" truly means he'll get "51%" or just one more carry than Hardesty we can make a sig bet on it. If you choose not to partake in my offer........it'll be quite obvious that you just enjoy spewing useless rhetoric across message boards. Oh, and this would be my first "sig" bet in years, but sometimes angry children need to be taught a lesson. BTW........."ad homs" is the accepted abbreviation.......NOT "adhoms". You may think you're a smarty-guy, but it's obvious that you're just a know-it-all blowhard.

I wish on FBG it had your age right next to your avatar, so we could tell how old all the posters are. It would be interesting to know.

Could we then compare actual age to the age the poster acts on the board? A spin off of the undervalued/overvalued content.. :P

and if you believe i ever made that claim, i suggest you learn how to read. let me know when you figure out what 'at least' means -- http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=617830&view=findpost&p=13670563

you're so good at logic i can barely contain my sarcasm. nice exsilentio.

if you're going to get all nerdy, let's at least make the bet match my claim -- hillis will get at least 51% of the carries. try not to contradict yourself.

false. also, i said 'in rhetoric', meaning the discipline itself. this is also the case for strawman, adhoc, posthoc, afort, and a bazillion other terms. stop trying.
You may think you're a smarty-guy, but it's obvious that you're just a know-it-all blowhard.
honestly, your whining here says a lot more about you than it does me. i'm not trying to tweak your insecurities, i was just suggesting that it's not the best idea to take coachspeak at face value, especially during contract negotiations. apparently you think that's being TECHNICAL and feel the need to be a keystone grammar cop and spew invective at random, but that's just you being a ####. you put the sore ### in soraismus, that's for sure.good day, sir.

What the hell happened in Cleveland?

What is really going on here?

It's a mystery.

Oh wait.....It's the Madden curse. That has to be it.

Seriously though.......FF has become my personal nightmare this season. LMFAO!!!

This really sucks..should have dumped him from Maclin when it was offered.

Really sucks for Hillis though, he earned his share in Cleveland

Well that is just it. The guy was a monster in 2010. He is a heck of a player and easy to root for. It is a joke they are not running the offense around this guy. I don't get it.I don't get a lot of things in the NFL anymore.

I traded him and Manninghands early last week for Daniel Thomas and Bowe. Thomas holds a keeper slot at round 10 which I think is good value for next season.

There's obviously an agenda here. It's not like backyard ball where the best players get the most PT. In the NFL, it can be about other things. In this case, it's all about the salary cap.

Hillis is in a contract year & the Browns want to pay him as little as possible. They're not going anywhere this season so why feature Hillis & have to pay out the nose for the next several years (which is likely their strategy). It's not the right way to run a franchise, but let's face it, there's quality NFL front offices & there's bad ones.

That said, I do believe the Browns could be a surprise team in the future, but pissing off one of the best all-around RBs in the league won't help. I'd love for Hillis to land on a team that would feature him again. Dude can ball as evidenced by last season when he was one of the most productive RBs in the NFL & had very little help (which is the sign of a stud).

I'm not sure I can name a team in the NFL where he'd be the starter this year if he were traded. Even borderline teams like KC, Miami, TB seem to have players they'd be more likely to use even with Hillis on the roster.

Player whines about wanting a trade, player doesn't sniff the ball.simple
:goodposting: Glad to have Hardesty going forward. And LOL at this article - and all the false hopes of an early draft pick not squandered pinned upon it.
You guys really have this all figured out.
I don't claim to have anything figured out... except I took a late round flyer on MH and the box score reads 6 carries for 14 yds for PH vs 10 carries for 33 for MH. How's that 1.4 points - from a 2nd round pick - looking on your roster this week? Enjoy the rest of the game... maybe it will get better for you, don't lose faith!
