Personally I think Hathaway was too subdued.

Hathaway's take on Carrie was great. Pretty much nailed the biggest flaw in the show.

Well that was even more of a setup than last week. The kid story can just be cut off, I don't think anybody cares. As far as Carrie, the whole trying to go after Brody was a bit over the top. Really going to risk it all and get fired again b/c you love a terrorist?
The previews look nice though. Abu Nazir going to try to turn him back using threat of violence against his family. Mentally, he must be really f***ed up so I'm sure the relations with Carrie actually does give him something he is in control of.
Overall, was waiting for the show to slow down a bit but I'm sure it'll pick up quickly. Wonder how they'll try for a 3rd season. And still perplexed this is all about some C4. I know its bad but it isn't like it can take out the same amount as a nuclear weapon.

I thought it was a pretty great episode.
I like how they handled the hit-and-run, using it as the vehicle to send Brody over the edge. It seemed like a bad idea at first, but, as a always with this show, they pulled it off just fine. It moved Brody along, showcased Dana a bit, and they appear to have given it a clean (believable) break. Fine with me.
The scene with Saul and Quinn arguing about whether to move in or not to the sound of Carrie getting nailed was one of my favorite in the series. Those two were great in that scene.

Sure, she doesn't hate nailing Brody, but this was about handling her asset. She took him to a place the CIA would know to look immediately and turned Brody around as much as possible. Of all the "Carrie, get back here!" moments of the series, this was the least likely to get her fired, I think.
Now, a minor complaint would be that turning Brody's tracker off and not responding to the CIA was a somewhat cheap, unnecessary way to build suspense. Not that I really mind though.

Maybe. Not that I mind. It's a suspense driven show, so they'll have to do things, from time to time, that might seem unnecessary to drive suspense.I'm not sure she really had to buy time though. Brody tried to (and probably still did) destroy himself as an asset. They were desperate. It's become quite clear that Carrie's always the best chance of getting through to Brody.
The conversation between Saul and Quinn could've just as easily happened immediately, as opposed to while listening to Carrie enthusiastically "handle" Brody in the motel room. It was a pretty dumb conversation to begin with, really. Try to get Brody back in with Roya or arrest him? That's not really a question and the conversation should've never had to take place.
Because Quinn needed to be convinced to do the only thing that makes sense, it doesn't seem like there was time for Carrie to get him before Brody was arrested. But that shouldn't have been the choice.
Immediately following Brody saying "I'm out", it should've been a simple (from Carrie) "Hey guys, this is pretty much over, but I'm going to go see if I can fix this. Track us if you like. I'm taking him to a CIA motel anyway. Warning though, there might be sex involved. If anyone has a better idea, hit me up on my cell."
Again, I don't mind, but I think it was clearly just to create suspense.

I was more talking about when he was in Roya's company and Carrie almost blew the whole thing up. That could have easily blew the whole thing and reeked of her trying to protect Brody which isn't her number 1 goal. I know they are supposed to be in love but it just seems shallow for Carrie to go down the same path. Of course now we don't know where Brody is even though I feel like tracking a helicopter would be much easier than a car.

I've tried to watch the last episode about 4 times since Sunday but just lost interest. The pacing of this show is getting worse.

Marking my spot. i am watching this series on DVD and this is where I am at. So far I feel the first two episodes were the best and I am not sure it will ever return to that. I am liking it though. Big decline in boob showings last few episodes

Boobs disappear as the show gets better unless it is like a Strike Back whose total audience is male and it has no chance of winning an Emmy. If a show wins an Emmy and wants to stay up there, it has to appeal to a mass audience and boobs everywhere defeats that. Heck, I was surprised we got to hear Carrie "help" Brody last episode. Such is the life of a good TV show as Entourage has went through it and True Blood has cut back a lot.

Yeah, good episode. No love story with the kids is always a win. These writers really have been pretty good b/c they keep throwing in a few twists when you think everything is figured out. Overall it was a setup episode but a good one. I figured there would be a bit more action when taking down a cell.I enjoyed this week's episode

I worry that this show has already gone on too long. Maybe it was meant to go 1-1.5 seasons. I don't think it can sustain for 4-5.

It was Quinn's apartment. He's apparently not just a regular analyst like the rest of the crew was led to believe. We also saw it when he was about to kill Brodie.I need to stop watching this show.

I didn't realize it until Saul called Virgil after he talked to Quinn's baby momma. I had no clue what the hell was happening until Saul gave Virgil the heads up and just thought I missed something to determine it was Quinn's apartment before that call.So Quinn is only around to take out Brody when he's no longer needed. I assume when Saul tells Carrie this info that she will tell Brody immediately which will screw up more stuff with the operation.Is Brody's account of his meeting with Nazir to be believed, was there other stuff he left out besides praying together or just assume that was the only thing he left out?

I thought it was a really good episode.
I like the Quinn thing and it makes sense. The VP and Estes need Brody gone without a trial as soon as he's no longer useful. Adds a nice wrinkle going down the stretch.
Of course, we don't know if Brody's telling the truth. That's when the show is at it's best.

In the scene immediately after the apartment scene, Saul told the guys who'd checked it out: "When I told you to check out Quinn, I didn't mean to break into his apartment." (Or something like that.) Then they showed him the pics of what they'd found.

A heavyweight CIA operative in the middle of trying to stop a terror plot on US soil getting schoolgirl giddy at being left "in charge" for a few minutes.
I'll finish the season, but that'll be it for me. Anybody who gets annoyed by writing that is dumbed down for fear of losing audience is going to find this show maddening. The over-explaining things was funny at first, but now it's just distracting. Whoops, except for that bit about Virgil/handstabber's place, which was uselessly confusing. That's just clumsy and distracting. I hope they had a scene setting that up and it just had to be cut because they didn't have time. I'm to the point where I think the show has to have been sabotaged by Showtime execs seeing it as their big shot at getting and maintaining subscribers and they're worried they'll lose people who can't follow the show so they've mandated that it be written to a fifth grade level now.And somebody should teach these CIA people how to do surveillance. The black van across the street from the terror cell meeting is usually going to get spotted. Or down the street from the double-agent's house when he knows he's being watched. And the meeting on the empty bus where handstabber and his buddy make sure to get window seats. These are the worst sneaky people ever.The Mrs. passing out in Mike's bed?

I love how he and the daughter seem to have no relationship whatsoever and that he's wholly uninterested in her demonstratively crumbling mental state. Nevermind the fact that the CIA has moved us to a safe house because very dangerous people might want us dead OMG DID YOU SEE THESE TVs DUDE??? You can show them trying to shelter him from the full weight of what's going on without making him look like a character from some altogether different show.And this show will go on for years past its shelf-life. See: Weeds, Californication, and Dexter. Showtime is the anti-HBO.

You are right, though I'm glad Dexter hung around this long. This season's worth it. Weeds actually finished strong too, I thought. Don't know if anybody watched it by then though.Californication can stay as long as they like, if Charlie Runkle is still around.
Don't know a ton about most HBO shows (other than Wire, Deadwood, 6FU), but didn't Entourage stick around way too long?
I also suspect The Wire and Deadwood might've ended up hanging around too long if people had actually watched them.
