Houston FBGs. Need some help: Galleria area Business Dinner spot (1 Viewer)

Got the boss and the CEO coming in tonight for a meeting tomorrow. Boss wants to grab dinner where the game will be on. CEO 'won't eat bar food,' whatever that means. I've only been here for a year and don't really have any go-to spots in that area (I travel quite a bit). Anyone have any recommendations? BBQ works, steak probably doesn't.

If it has to be in or near The Galleria, you might try Peli Peli.  Really good South African restaurant.  Cafe Annie (Southwestern/Mexican) is a Houston classic but definitely overpriced (corporate card recommended).  Pappas Steakhouse is close by and probably my favorite for a steak in Houston ( I know you said no steak).  I rarely eat in The Galleria area so most of my recommendations will be Downtown/Montrose.  Best BBQ in the city is probably at Gatlins BBQ but that's in the Heights.  Goode BBQ isn't that far away but these are really casual dining options. Good luck!

Thanks so much, Major. Know anything about the Luling City Market? Ever been to Pappas Bros Burgers?

Get a jersey with CEO's name on the back, when dinner is over take it off at the table and ask to swap tops.

Only been to the original Luling City Market in Luling.  Haven't heard much about the Houston location.  Pappas is a huge restaurant family/chain in Houston.  They have many casual spots around town and one fancy (the steakhouse).  Their food is solid and consistent.  If you want a decent burger, it's not a bad option but definitely casual.  Doesn't strike me as the place to bring a CEO.

I get it but I'm not trying to impress him. He's a finicky eater and is pretty serious about our per diem, especially lately. And we're a pretty casual group. Just need a place to go for a decent meal where the game will be on that's somewhere between sports bar and steak house.

ETA: I'd prefer to take him to True Food Kitchen or Dish Society or Local Foods, but the boss wants a place with the game on. Trying to serve two masters without much luck right now. F'ing middle management.

Pappas Brother Burgers is good, but will be full of families and kids. It is super casual.

I have only been to Luling City Market once and wasn't impressed, but that was almost 20 years ago.

ETA: And Luling City Market isn't related at all to the famous Luling Market in Luling, if I recall.

Just take him to the Men's Club.  Good ribeye and the game will be on.    http://www.mensclub.com/houston-mens-club

Pappadeaux Seafood might be good.  They are more pricey, though.  Just Google their locations.  (There's one on Richmond and Kirby and one on Westheimer.)  Yia Yia Mary has Greek food, and it's right there at the Galleria (also a Pappas restaurant.)

I went to oceanaire in the galleria the other night.  Fits what you are looking for - is across from del frisco's.

edit - I believe there are tables in the bar area w/ tvs, may want to confirm

Coming in for U2 on Wed and might hit a scrip club.  Is Treasures still the spot (Ive never been but have heard it was legendary at least at one time) or if not where should I go?

@Major

There is a little book store in town called Brazos. I believe they have open-pad nights there all the time. Gets pretty hot in there with all the prose flying around.

It's been a few years since my last visit but I believe Treasures and Men's Club are still the spots.  Treasures isn't as crazy as it used to be but still worth a gander.
