How about a round of applause for all rookie studs (1 Viewer)

Rather than Bush vs VY and Mario Williams vs everyone ... and whether Colston is putting up the greatest rookie WR performance, ad nauseam.

I'm impressed at the progress as well as potential of this year's rookie class.. especially on the offensive side... and rather than dissect 12 games a piece...

A big round of applause

Bush - makes the whole field an option for NO, especially yesterday

VY - wow, the past few games

Williams - looks to be on the right DE growth path.

Addai - two weeks ago was huge, but a capable workhorse

Maroney - lock for the future of NE, but seems to get dinged up

Colston - this year's Boldin

Leinhart - looks to have settled down

MJD - Ol' Fred finally has some competition, and it's working out for everyone involved

and anyone else I forgot.

Gradkowski and Cutler are struggling, but it's early (in their careers).

A few more are TBD

Vernon Davis - some rookie mistakes, some flashes, but got hurt

Santanio Holmes - we'll see when/if he gets some upcoming starts

DeAngelo Williams - we saw some great work, but still TBD

*cough* Brandon Marshall *cough*

Jerious Norwood's moves are sickening, he broke a few ankles yesterday.

Don't forget Greg Jennings - he'll be a starter in this league for a long time.

Yeah, this years rookie class is looking pretty friggin good for the moment. You also have some darkhorses and later picks that will develop with time and good coaching (Chad Jackson comes to mind)

Some other defensive players include guys like DeMeco Ryans. A.J. Hawk, and Bobby Carpenter is doing a good job in Dallas since filling in for the injured Greg Ellis.

No doubt in my mind, the ROY should be V Young. Plays by far THE toughest position in pro sports and has turned a team that many felt might win 2 or 3 games this season into one that nobody can look past any Sunday! Fisher wouldn`t give up on the season and has got Young and that team already looking towards next year. At 5-7 after there start, 7-9 would be a great finish. Bush is the HOT topic but hey I like my RB`s to run the ball a little too.

Not to mention the fact that last year's class was pretty weak. This year it was a gold mine.

Also, we have guys coming from no where such as Frank Gore and Cedric Houston as of late. There are a lot of people that completely lucked out this year on guys that didn't just turn out to be serviceable but ever week starters (Colston, Gore, Addai, etc....)

Ferguson, Mangold, and Washington have all been great contributors for the Jets this year.

Are we limiting this to fantasy players? Because D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Nick Mangold were day 1 starters at the two toughest line positions, and they've played brilliantly. Leon Washington has outrushed most of the guys mentioned also.

Other impressive rookies not mentioned include Kamerion Wimbley, Ernie Sims and Mathias Kiwanuka. Guys like Haloti Ngata and Tamba Hali also look good playing positions that take a few years to master.

Yep after/during the post, I thought of guys like Hawk, D'Brick, Hester, Leon Washington, Mike Bell (at times), Jerius Norwood, Greg Jennings... yes impressive.

Also, as mentioned it's that there really haven't been as many busts in the past... especially the touted guys...

This year's all-rookie offense team

QB - Vince Young

RB - Reggie Bush, Joseph Addai (with a host of backups)

WR - Marques Colston, Greg Jennings

TE - ? (Davis, M Lewis, Klopfenstein, Scheffler, Pope) nobody really..yet

K - Gostkowski (not saying much)

The "bust" list is pretty weak, if at all populated.

Don't forget Mark Anderson's sacks and Danieal Manning's plus range helping the Bears pass defense.

Last year's draft was super deep.

I am very happy with Jonathan Joseph's play thus far. He's going to be solid for years and has a chance to become upper-tier if he can learn to catch a football and cause some ints. But his tackling and coverage skills are top-notch.

A lot of good names being thrown around. Here's one that is way off the radar: Tony McDaniels. This guy was an undrafted free agent that made the Jags roster at DT. When Stroud was out for multiple games earlier this season he was getting a lot of snaps and played amazingly well in the rotation. In the titans game NFL.com has him with 7 tackles but it was actually over 10 tackles, from a DT. He'd likely already be starting or at least pushing for a starting job on just about any other team. But with Henderstroud and the Rob Meier(another excellent DT) in front of him it's going to take some time.

Michael Huff has been playing well, too.

Raiders D is better this year and he's part of the reason...

I just get the feeling he will end up being the best rb out of this class. The kid is a stud, just stuck behind the ageless W. Dunn...
for those that missed his last sick TD run, here it is
One of the plays of the year if you ask me. He made three NFL defenders look like punters trying to tackle Devin Hester. He didn't just make them miss, he toyed with them as he did it, and he was basically at full speed the whole time.

This guy is so good that I am afraid he will succumb to some terrible career ending injury. I don't think I've EVER seen a back make cuts while moving that fast. Fantasy football aside this is the rookie about whom I am the most excited.

Marcus McNeil, starting left tackle, San Diego Chargers.
My vote for offensive ROY. And every time this conversation pops up, ten posts and 25 names appear before he even gets mentioned.
:goodposting: How can the left tackle of a top offense not be as important as part time runners?
Absolutely, you think LaDainian AND Rivers haven't benefitted greatly from this guy being there all year?To me it's either him or Colston for ROY period (maybe Vince Young if he continues with his current play), not just offensive.

I want to give credit to 2 rookies who have made a huge imapct...without the fantasy glory.

Nick Mangold and D'Brickashaw Fergueson.

Mangold has stepped into the role of center left by Kevin "MyWay". and has been a man among men.

And Brick has just solidified that left side of the line.

These guys are going to be one hell of a line in years to come. And if we get a true running back (Houston is still in question), I am excited for the future of Gang Green!!!!!!!!
