How are your Rookies doing? Dynasty/Keeper (1 Viewer)

Just thought it might be nice to get them in one place.

16 team dynasty

Hali, Tamba KCC DE Drafted 4.01--12th DL overall

He has 43 pts in our scoring system. Low of 2 and high of 12.

T 23, A 9, Fum Rec 1, Forced Fum 3, Int 0, SK 3.5, Pass Def 2.

I think I did OK with this pick although it appears he may have a hip pointer.

Hodge, Abdul GBP LB Drafted 3.01

He has been hurt past few weeks, he is on my developmental squad.

I look for good things from him next year and later.

If I remember rightly he did very well in the preseason and looked to bump Nick Barnett out of his spot.

I had some room on my Dev Squad for a couple of rookies so I picked up these guys on the cheap via FA in week 5.

Ellison, Keith BUF LB

Sitting behind Spikes-not sure how he will in the future.

Bethea, Antoine IND S

Has 49 pts and is 28 DB overall, low of 1 and high of 12

T 34, A16, Fum Rec 0, Forced Fum 0, Int 1, SK 0, Pass Def 5

Is now a starter for the rest of this year at least. Not sure where he will be on the depth chart next year.

How are your rookies doing?

16 teams (salary cap dynasty):

2.02 18 Beaumont Wildcatters (Beaumont) Ryans, DeMeco HOU LB (No. 5 :D )

7.05 101 Beaumont Wildcatters (Beaumont) Harper, Roman NOS S (No. 29 weekly average, on IR)

Overall I am pleased ...

5.05 69 Beaumont's Petro-Chems Alston, Jon STL LB ( )

8.14 126 Beaumont's Petro-Chems Smith, Eric NYJ S (191 and waiting)

Bush 1.01 not too well although it is a 1.5 PPR league

Mcintosh 2.12 not playing on DTS

Greg Jennings 3.01:) good when he plays

Schefler 4.12 not good

Ahmad Brooks ?

Have added several as FA's(DTS)dynasty league

Anderson Bears

Pollard

J Anderson

Jimmy Williams

I don't know if we are talking straight IDPs here or not.

I have found Demeco Ryans to be pretty much the best IDP rookie for this year.

Tamba Hali has been a decent #2 or #3 DL.

Mario Williams is slowly coming around.

in one of my league(16 teams):

1.1 RBush: would like to see him start running the ball better

1.16 CGreenway(passed on Simms due to concussion history :bash: )

2.6 Sinorice Moss :(

2.13 K Clemens wait and see

2.15 A Hodge(via mid season trade: sent AJHawk for Hodge/Campbell)

3.8 B Croyle wait and see(sent tavaris jax in a deal for croyle plus pick & $3)

3.9 KIWI(via mid season deal: sent LJ Smith for Kiwi/VJax/Scobee 3rd and 5th round picks)

3.13 D Hagan i like how he seems to be progressing

3.14 Thomas Howard only concern is what happens in OAK next yr

5.6 Dem. Williams looks like he and clayton might be a nice 1/2 at WR in the future

6.7 Jamar Williams wait and see

6.11 Cedrick Griffin wait and see but so far looks like he is gonna be a player

8.7 Jeff Webb wait and see...kennison isnt getting any younger

WW pickup Omar Gaither very pleased with his development

Jason Allen, S - Finally getting some playing time and had an INT against Chi (then again, who didn't?).

Clint Ingram, LB - Filling in with all of the injuries and doing pretty well. Has helped me through a rash of LB injuries (Quarles, Dansby, Morgan, Spikes).

Jon Alston, LB - :missing:

Ahmed Brooks, LB - WW pickup that started strong but has fizzled the last two weeks

Drafted Vince Young at 1.08 in a 32 team dynasty then traded him away in a package deal to get Griese (insurance for Grossman) and some other players and a 1st rounder in 2007.

Drafted J. Norwood at 1.13 - outlook is promising.

Drafted T. Scheffler at 1.21 - will do better when Cutler starts

Daniel Bullocks at 2.06 - Stud. Been in my starting lineup most of the year

Drafted J. Harrison 2.07 - not too thrilled about him so far

Ashton Youboty at 3.02 - wasted pick.

Jeff Webb at 5.02 - needs an opportunity. Sure looks good returning kicks though.

Dave Thomas at 5.20 - Meh. Could be a stud. Probably never know since they have Watson and they pass the ball around so much.

Freddie Kieaho at 5.23 - He was part of the deal that included VY above.

I picked up Bruce Gradkowski and Jarrad Page as UDFA after the draft and I am pleased with their contributions. They have both been spot starters for me...remember, it's a 32 team league and Qb's are hard to come by.

2.04 Mario Williams, DE, Houston (consistent starter for me, especially with Kearse injury)

3.04 Donte Whitner, S, Buffalo (in the starting rotation based upon matchup with Madieu, Dawkins, & C.C. Brown)

5.04 Jimmy Williams, CB, Atlanta (cut for lack of playing time)

6.04 Claude Wroten, DT, St. Louis (cut for lack of playing time)

6.12 Freddie Keiaho, LB, Indianapolis (inactive - on rookie practice squad)

FA James Anderson, LB, Carolina (acquired week 7; on active roster but no starts yet)

I like the value I got overall, but I just didn't have enough spots to hold everyone. I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion, after having drafted Marlin Jackson and Jimmy Williams in consecutive years, that I'm not a fan of drafting CB's. Babineaux and Wroten also have soured me to drafting DT's, but that's a less firmly held conclusion.

I was thinking just idp, but I guess we can ferret those out.

1.07) Traded with 3.07 for TJ Duckett and 2.07 - OUCH (inactive now)

2.06) MIN LB Chad Greenway - OUCH (IR)

2.07) HOU DE Mario Williams- not bad, 34th ranked DL in league and my depth here is good so I have time for him to mature

4.06) NYJ RB Leon Washington - Great value pick here, he's starting for me now at RB!

5.07) CLE LB Kamerion Wimbley - traded along with CAR LB JAmes Anderson for BUF QB JP Losman (needed a backup QB when Simms went down). Not a bad trade, although I think Wimbley will be good.

6.06) TEN WR Jonathan Orr - No longer on roster

UDFA) IND S Antoine Bethea - 32nd ranked DB in league, very happy with picking him up and he has been a spot starter for me.

Although it hurt to lose Greenway, the Leon Washington pick made this draft OK for me while still picking up a good DE in Williams. In retrospect, the TJ Ducket trade which cost me my 1st round pick was terrible.

IDP rookies ("main" league):

Tamba Hali (5th round pick)

Mark Anderson (WW)

Thomas Howard (traded Duckett for him and Landon Johnson)

Considering my other rookie picks are Greg Jennings, Matt Leinart, Brad Smith and Omar Jacobs, I'd say pretty well. (would have been nice if I had Colston, but 5/7 is pretty good)

Mario Williams has a sack in 3 straight games now. I have not bee starting him but he is showing enough promise that I have to consider his matchups now.

Greenway  maybe next year as some Viking Lbers are free agents.

Witner has been okay but not great. I think the Bills Lbers are too good for Witner to really go off as a SS for now.

Harper was decent until he got injured

Overall rookie picks not helping me out that much this year.

I this week just picked up LB Jamar Williams and stashed him on my IR, and then I picked up LB Omar Gaither. Both moves were because of this thread.

Thanks guys. We'll see what happens.

I agree, there always seems to be many CB FA's in the top 10-20 from week to week.We start DB as opposed to cb/s so a good SS or LB depth seems to be a better use of a draft pick.

This thread and the Young LB thread are helping me to make some decisions. Great discussions.

12 team dynasty league

1) Maroney

2) AJ Hawk

3) Demeco

4) Scheffler

5) A Hodge

6) M Anderson

7) M Colston

I4 - 14 team dynasty

Acquired three extra early picks in a fire sale during a bad season last year and the rooks have helped me bounce back to a slim division lead so far this year.

1.02 - Laurence Maroney, RB NE

1.14 - Brian Calhoun, RB DET

2.02 - Mario Williams, DE HOU - been valuable as he's heated up lately. Didn't feel the slow start b/c I had S.Rice starting, but he's fallen off the grid, so Mario has been starting regularly now.

2.14 - Derek Hagan, WR MIA

3.02 - Brodie Croyle, QB KC

3.14 - Manny Lawson, OLB SF - my LB corps is very thin, so he has been a bye week starter, but that's about it. Still, nice upside in a dynasty league.

4.02 - Jason Avant, WR PHI

5.02 - Mathias Kiwaunka, DE NYG - put him on Practice Squad b/c I obviously didn't predict all the injuries, and you lose a PS slot when you activate, so since my DEs are solid, I haven't. I couldn't believe his freefall and traded up b/c I had a lot of confidence he'd be a good one. If I knew he'd have fallen to the 3rd/4th, I would have passed on Mario and taken Kiwi w/my last third round pick. When I got to the 3rd/4th, I couldn't pull the trigger b/c I needed to address my extremely thin LB and WR groups. When he was still there in the 5th, I traded up to get another pick b/c I still wanted Omar Jacobs  .

5.03 - Omar Jacobs, QB PIT

6.03 - Jonathan Orr, WR TEN

7.02 - Mike Bell, RB DEN

8.02 - Wille Reid, WR PIT

WW - Ahmad Brooks, LB CIN - nice couple of games, but the drop off lately is frustrating b/c I've lost LaVar from my thin LB group.

DEFFA - 12 team dynasty

1.10 - Jay Cutler, QB DEN

2.10 - Greg Jennings, WR GB

3.10 - Derek Hagan, WR MIA

4.04 - Mathias Kiwanuka, DE NYG - not kidding I was high on him, as I also traded up for him in this league when he fell past where he should have. PS most of year, but I had Osi, so I just activated him last week and look forward to his production in Strahan's extended absence.

4.10 - Lee Suggs, RB CLE

6.10 - Thomas Howard, LB OAK - as it is a twelve team league and we only start 3 and I have a solid LB group, he wasn't getting used much. Recently demoted to PS so I could add Dumervil.

7.03 - Andre Carter, DE WAS

8.10 - Tony Hollings, RB IND

WW - Mark Anderson, DE CHI - dropped Dewayne White, who I had high hopes for, to pick him up to walk the talk about him I put on this board. I demoted him to PS (much more liberal PS rules in this league) after I chose to start him over Alex Brown and Brown had the big game.

WW - Elvis Dumervil, DE DEN - I missed the big games, then he did nothing for a couple of weeks, and my DEs are deep, so I gave up on him again to pick up...

WW - Jimmy Williams, DB ATL - I pimped him after the draft and he hasn't lived up to expectations, but now he has a chance and if he's healthy, I'll start him this week against the Browns for sure. Rookie CB opposite stud CB + mad athletic skills = huge upside (if he can keep his ego in check).

Go get him back. Established himself against weaker lines initially and it wasn't too surprising to see him come back to earth. But this is the week you want him for -- Oakland :banned: .

I like Williams, too, though. Anybody else you can boot? You can dump Dumervil again soon.

1.08 Vernon Davis - Of course he got hurt. He was replacing Winslow as my bust TE pick. Should've dealt the pick, instead of my 2nd & Winslow.

2.08 Traded away with Winslow & Garrard for D Jackson & a low 2007 pick - this is working well - I now have a top WR.

3.08 Donte Whitner - Solid contirbutor in my backfield.

4.02 Rocky McIntosh - Project LB to start to replace my old guys.

4.08 Michael Robinson - Loved him at PSU, he was my sleeper offensive palyer. Physical freak.

5.08 Darnell Bing - Project S/LB, cut when he didn't get any PT.

6.08 Stephen Tulloch - Project LB to start to replace my old guys.

7.08 Jim Sorgi - Peyton Manning insurance through pre-season. Didn't like what I saw, so I cut him.

UDFA: Roman Harper - was playing well when he went on IR.

Of these guys, I like what I've seen from Whitner & Harper the most. They have a job and are/were playing well. Harper's hurt, so we'll see what he does on his return.

I like Tulloch's situation a lot - he will take over I think as a solid LB by end of year. He may only be a 2 down MLB, but as depth in the 6th round with older backers (Quarles/Zach/Peterson/Haggans), you've got to like it.

I'm optimistic on McIntosh. I think he'll get into the mix later on, and get a starting gig next year.

Davis I'm disappointed in, but it's to be expected - he's my first round pick, so he has to have problem year 1, hopefully his year 2 will be solid.

Robinson may have a shot, but he's Gore's backup for now, and Gore has gotten badly hurt before.

Bing - meh. Unimpressive in preseason, and then to IR.

Sorgi - Peyton's backup.

I had the 5th pick in a 12 team league with a 5 round rookie draft. I only had one IDP rookie pickup in the draft: Ernie Sims (3.5). He's started every week for me and has been a very solid LB3 with 83 points in our scoring system. He hasn't had many big weeks but he's been consistent, and I love it.

The only other IDP rookie I picked up was Roman Harper, but I waived him the week before he went on IR to take a chance on Mike Brown. My offensive rookies aren't worth mentioning since they haven't been noteworthy, and because this is the IDP forum. Though I will brag about picking up Colston on WW before the season started :)

Essentially I did not have early picks this year due to a busy trading season (HAFA style league)

I ended up with Wimbley and Keiaho who I like a lot, still kicking myself for taking Dumervil over Owen Daniels or Stephen Tulloch with my last pick - I dumped Dumervil prior to giving him a contract.
