How bad will LT carve up the Raiders Run D. (1 Viewer)

LT is a freaking ATM (Automatic Touchdown Machine). I have the distinct pleasure of having to play against him this week. It's a crucial week for me and I NEED a win. However, I get the feeling LT will single handedly end my fantasy football season this week. What kind of sick stats will I have the pleasure to see for LT after this game. I'm thinking:

23 carries, 150 yards, 3TD's.

Thoughts??

This is a week that his hot streak inexplicably ends. Raiders D is going to step up to the plate and it will actually be Gates and McCardell that go off this week.

A man can dream can't he?

It's very possible that San Diego charges out to an early lead in this game and hands the 2nd half running duties over to the Burner.

The last 4 games, the Chargers have needed their superstar to carry the load

- at least 24 points given up

- 21 and 17 point deficts the last two weeks vs CIN and DEN

Oakland will not present the level of competition the Chargers faced the last 4 weeks during LT2's history-setting run.

At least that's what I'm hoping.

:scared:

Nobody can keep up a 4 TD/game tear. There's no reason he couldn't tear it up, but law of averages will kick in here. I'd be surprised by more than 75 and a TD. Maybe somewhat more but I doubt it and no ridiculous game like he's been having. Yeah go ahead and laugh, say no way, blah blah...just remember to come back for I-told-you-so's later. And anyone who wants to bet on another 4 TD performance, I got $50 says your're wrong.

Could somebody less lazy than me post Tomlinson's averages per game against the Raiders?
Tomlinson had 131 yards rushing, 18 yards receiving and 1 rushing touchdown in their week 1 monday night 27-0 mauling of the Raiders.I have Gates and the SD DST and my division rival has LT, so I'm hoping LT gets a bit of a rest this week and they decide to work out Rivers. An owner can hope ... :banned: Ni

I hate it when people feel the need to "sign" each post (ex. Mud Out, even though I like that guy)This may be the only exception. :lmao:

I think he had 133 rushing and a TD in the week one shutout.

That was weird. Neither of these really answers the question. I guess if I get bored enough, I can do it myself.

That's his average... this year

I play LT in 2 leagues this week. Considering the Raiders average have given up over 1300 rushing yds ytd (6th worst in league) and lead the league at over 33 carries against per game, I look for big fantasy days for both LT and Turner. I'm going to guess around 22/125/2 for LT and 15/75/1 for Burner.

I have a feeling the Raiders pitiful Offense is going to make sure that LT gets his this week.

I didn't think it appropriate to factor in LT's average against previous Raiders teams, since the 2006 version has set a new standard for StinkNi!

LT.....20/120/1TD

rec 5/60/1TD

then he shall rest

The Burner 20/135/2TD

Rivers and Gates will be quiet as they run, run, run this game.....

OK, since I"m bored at work, here is LT's officital game by game rushing stats against the Raiders from nfl.com. This does not include his receiving stats.

2001:

- 68 yards, 1 TD

- 46 yards, 0 TD

2002:

153 yards, 1 TD

57 yards, 1 TD

2003:

187 yards, 1 TD

243 yards, and 2 TD's (WOW!!)

2004:

71 yards rushing, 1 TD

164 yards, 1 TD

2005:

140 yards, 1 TD

86 yards, 0 TD

2006:

131 yards, 1 TD

Averages out to about 122 yards per game and 1.6 TDs per game against the Raiders.

So the law of averages say he gets 122 yards rushing and 2 TD's on the ground. And we can't forget about his receiving stats. So lets throw in another 40 yards through the air. My guy tells me he won't score through the air this week.

So there you have it.

This scenario is in line with my thinking. The Chargers should be concerned about getting LT a little bit of rest prior to the final month of the season. He's a workhorse and all that, but even he has his limits. Once San Diego assumes control of the game, he should be resting on the sideline.

As an LT owner, I'm hoping that the law of averages DOES kick in here and limit his production ... and a new 4TD/game streak resumes on week 14!

Suppose you have to choose between Edge @ MIN and the Burner... would you be bold enough to start Turner (1/15yds - 6pts/TD - no ppr)... of course, this is not a WDIS question... it's a rhetorical question!

what does it matter how he did against Oak last year or two years ago (see historical Denver Bronco stats)?

If these numbers you posted are correct - you averaged the TDs wrong. I count 10 TDs and 11 games - which is 0.91 TDs per game.

When a player starts chasing a record, everyone on the team, coaches, players, management, ect., call plays to ensure it is reached.

When Peyton Manning was chasing teh touchdown record two years ago, he would throw from the one and two yard lines regularly.

If you noticed, the one yard TD pass to Gates off of a Tomlinson play-action has all but disappeared. They will now feed LT the ball everytime they are inside the five. Obviously, winning games are more important than records, but since LT is having such great success, this LT record-feeding isn't costing the Chargers one bit.

LT will have 100 yards and 2 TDs through 2.5 quarters, then give way to Turner as the Chargers coast to victory. Of course if the Raiders match them point per point like Cincy and Denver did the past two weeks, then he'll have another monster game. That would shock me, though.

I play LT, so part of this post is driven by hope that he doesn't have another 4 TD game. My opponent and I are battling for the division title, each at 10-1. If I lose, I'm relegated to the #4 seed despite having the 2nd best record. If LT's 3rd or 4th TD is the difference in my game, I'm going to cry.

This will be the week that LT throws a TD pass to Gates.

You can go ahead and :blackdot: that ####.

<-----------------LT/Gates owner

I've posted this a few weeks back in the Cincy thread but it's relevant to this thread...Looking at the numbers I don't think Turner's involvement is based on the scoreboard but rather it's based on the # of touches LT gets. It seems as if the Chargers are trying to keep LT to a max of 28 touch's/game.

In the 1st 3 weeks LT had 34, 26 and 28 touches and Turner had 10, 15, and 7 touches. The game against Pitt where LT was totally bottled up was the only game this year that Turner got a significant # touches (11) and LT did not get at least 26 (he had 21). Since that game LT's touch's/game have been 28, 21, 28, 21 and Turners have been 1, 4, 5, 2. Some of those games were close some were total blowouts. The SF game LT was still in the there leading 41-19 with 4 minutes in the 4th and Turner had 1 touch in that game.

So I think for Turner to be a possible play you have to hope that LT gets 26+ touch's and after that point Turner may start to get the ball (except for the times LT comes out for a breather). Pretty big risk.

ETA: The Cincy game LT had 28 touches to Turner's 1 and in the Denver game LT had 23 carries to Turner's 4.

Tomlinson's stats against the Raiders - including receiving and passing can be seen HERE. Scroll down to Chargers player logs

That's what a lot of people (myself included) thought in week 6 vs. SF.Turner's' line: 1/0/0 rushing, 0/0/0 receiving in a 48-19 W.I'm leaving Turner on my bench this week.

Somehow I am playing against LT in every one of my fantasy leagues this week. FF gods are being unusually cruel to me this year for some reason.

I am hoping that they decide to give Turner some of the work, although I'm not all that optimistic. LT is getting close enough to the TD record that I think at some point the team will adopt a goal of getting that record for him (if they haven't already). Plus he's already spoken out about wanting to own the rushing title for a season. So, what I'm most afraid of is that they will give him lots of carries even if the game is out of hand.

I don't see this game as being competitive. The coaching staff must realize LT has been getting alot of work over the past 4 weeks and imo, will give him some much needed rest.

Beware of a big let down, LT owners.............i am.

His workload has not been heavy over this record setting period. He's averaged 25 touches over the last 4 games and his career average is 25.8/game. He's just doing a lot more with those touches.

Really? Care to explain why?Are you saying that Shottenheiner isn't aware of LT's record setting pace? You're fooling yourself if you don't think they'll be giving him more goaline work than ever in the next few games.

I would think it is more of a "if it's not broke don't fix it." LT gets the ball at the GL and on the 1st try he takes it in. Why change anything? There was a GL pass in last week's game, it just wasn't to Gates. Rivers is spreading the ball around more than Brees did.

I agree. It has nothing to do with the record. LT doesn't seem to care that much about the record and the coach's surely aren't going to start changing their gameplan so that LT can get it. They want to win games and the best/safest way to win is to hand the ball to Mr. Money. Keep doing it until they stop you. It seems as if he's getting hands offs 5-8 yards from the goal line and even though everyone in the stadium knows he's gonna get the ball he still seems to go in on the 1st shot (sometimes untouched).

160yds 3TDs

i think the Raiders will score a few more than their usual this week. Brooks is showing signs of life, the Raiders are looking better relatively than how they looked at the beginning of the season. the Chargers will win, but because the Raiders will keep it closer than usual, LT will continue to get touches.

i think LT and SD want the record. LT is an avid historian of the game and although he's humble and not flashy at all, it's my opinion that the record is important to him. he views his heroes with great reverance and wants nothing more than to be compared to them, and eventually pass them. the record will just put another nail in the coffin on that. until of course, people start saying that he has to win a SB.

as commented above, add the high % of success with LT at the goal line and you got a season for the ages. i mean, it's not like the last few opponents have NOT known that LT is the #1 option in the red zone. seriously, why mess with success?

Who is talking anything about a big game.. if anything most people are expecting him to have your average 20 carry 100 yard 1td game with some receiving stats throw in. If he gets me that id be fine this weekend.. he gets me more that'd be awesome but im not gonna get my hopes up for a 4 td game because it is very unlikely to happen.

I'm trying really hard not to call you names. 75 and a TD this week? You mean in the first quarter? They're not going to feed LT the ball inside the 10 every time to get him the record? Have you been watching any Charger games? LT always gets first crack inside the five, and he almost always scores. You either:1. Hate LT with a passion.2. Are on a huge :fishing: expedition.3. Are all the bad names I could call you but Shick! would send me an angry PM.

It was my understanding that thier pass d was one of the best and the run d one of the worst. The San Diego game plan is cake this week. This type of defense is the perfect storm for marty-ball, expect bad things if your playing against LT2. Your only hope is if Turner gets a healty dose of carries. :(

I dont see where all the Turner talk is coming from. Everytime people think Turner will get alot of carries LT continues to run & run & run. Even when I think they should rest him ( & thats coming from an LT owner).

So, hoping, wishing or praying for Tuner to get alot of carries is not gonna get you anywhere. Unless LT gets injured.

While I agree in spirit, consider this - the Chargers will already know the outcome of the Bronco-Chiefs game and if the Broncos lose, the Chargers take a huge step forward by beating the Raiders. They can actually think confidently about taking the division and going deep into the playoffs - if the Raiders game is in hand early in the fourth (say a 2 TD lead) and LT has his #s (say 120-150 total yards and a couple of TDs), there is really no reason to continue running him.

I'm not sure at what point of the 2nd half this will happen, but it will happen. The game will take a turn or two to lead the true Raider fans into allowing our emotions to get involved into the game (when going into it,our emotions are not involved). Then LT will do what needs to be done and the game will be over about the last Raider "drive". LT will get at least 150 total yards and 3 TD's IMHO.
