How do I get yahoo to step in on a bad league? (1 Viewer)

Team ROFLCOPTERS

Footballguy
I don't like Yahoo at all because it's impossible to stop collusion. I was board a couple nights ago and decided to pay for a league. I drafted well and was confident in competing for some cash.

Anyways, 10 minutes after the commish trades half his team from an obvious farm team to his. Filled every hole for trash. No veto system. Then he took all of the positions he is stacked at and changed the settings to 20 times the original scoring value. Three of us complained so he took every one of our good players and put them on his farm team and replaced them with the worst players on said team and kickers off the waiver wire. We have tried to add players and he removes them.

So, I've heard we can contact yahoo and have them look into this. Collusion is against the terms and agreement so his accounts should be banned. I just don't know how. I'm beyond frustrated and want this guy to never be allowed to play a yahoo league again. Please advise.

your playing for money with people you don't know, without using League Safe?
Fixed it.
It's yahoo, I doubt they are running out with the cash. The problem he has is with the integrity of the league. There has to be an email address somewhere you can petition.
If it's a Yahoo sponsored cash league then Yahoo is the commissioner. Since Yahoo is not the commissioner, it means that he joined a private/custom league with a stranger he probably met on a forum somewhere. Therefore, Yahoo won't do #### for him.

Never, ever, play for money with people that you don't know and trust, unless they come highly recommended from someone that you do know and trust.

you might as well chalk that up as lost money. i like how he is messing with your teams, instead of taking the money and running.

ETA

how did you send this guy your money? if paypal call them cuz yahoo aint gonna do squat. if not find him and punch him in the face

This is exactly the case. I saw a league being advertised on the forums for late at night which was when I was in the mood to draft and went for it. I'm trying to get paypal to reverse the funds but it's difficult when the commish is not having and dialogue regarding his actions.

ROFL,

I don't know you well, but have seen you on the boards, so I am kind of surprised you joined a league like this (this isn't a knock, just surprised). I am sure you know about the Mock Drafts forum and Looking for a League forum, so I am curious whether you checked that out before joining this other league (I know it was a spur of the moment thing, but there are those that exist on those forums too).

Honestly, if it is not through Yahoo Management, then I don't see any repercussions you have. How much did you drop on the league?

On the flipside, I would keep trying to reach the guy and just nicely explain, you trusted him to manage the league properly, and ask that he return things back to normal.

1st thing to do is publish his FBG name so others know not to join then contact Yahoo and perhaps Paypal. Do you have his real name and information?

ROFL, I know you around here.... there's no way you did this. right? please! :bag:

We all have our lapses in sanity... I guess late at night is when you have yours?

Late at night I'm usually watching cake farts... so I guess I get where you're coming from.

By the way, having read about your problem, I think you may be a good candidate for a program which will might provide you with a lot of money. I happen to know this Nigerian bank vice-president...

Yeah, I'm, a little ashamed. I've been doing this long enough to know better. I never could have guessed that I'd be what is the equivilent of robbed. That's exactly what this was. The sheer level of league manipulation involved here is mind blowing. There has to be something yahoo can do but I have not received a response from them. I mean, are people really using their site to legally rob people? I can't imagine they appreciate that.

I am pretty new to the forums but maybe we should make a post and keep it pinned with names and paypal addresses of people to avoid for fantasy football leagues. Or do we have something like that already?

Sweet, I just checked the league page and somehow the commish is gone and the league is set to redraft in 90 minutes. Every manager is co-commisioner. The money is in the guys paypal account and he walks away with the easiest 600 bucks he's ever made but it's nice to see yahoo step in. I assume it was yahoo.

I don't know how far you'll get, but I would ask all league members to report this to PayPal as fraud.

Do this by phone. Ask for a case number. Then have all members reference the same case number with their complaints.

Good luck.

You'd probably open the site to potential litigation and defamation issues. What if I were to post your information fraudulently? What is your recourse now that you've been blacklisted inappropriately?

Eh, I've emailed Yahoo before about collusion, in free leagues mind you, and they stepped in if I remember right. So I don't see why

they wouldn't step in with such a blatant move by this "commish."

Lesson learned, I hope...

Hmmm.. You might try this approach with PayPal. From the Paypal Acceptable Use Policy

You may not use the PayPal service for activities that:

6. involve gambling, gaming and/or any other activity with an entry fee and a prize, including, but not limited to casino games, sports betting, horse or greyhound racing, lottery tickets, other ventures that facilitate gambling, games of skill (whether or not it is legally defined as a lottery) and sweepstakes unless the operator has obtained prior approval from PayPal and the operator and customers are located exclusively in jurisdictions where such activities are permitted by law.
So call Paypal, tell him that you didn't realize this was against acceptable use, and that holder of the paypal account is involved in fraud.Paypal *might* sieze his funds and return them.... then again...

Thanks for this. I just posted this info on the league board. I appreciate you digging for this my man.

One better- call Paypal and explain the situation and remind them that gambling violates their terms of service. They will reverse the charges or AT LEAST freeze the idiots account hopefully before he can clean it out.

Edit- oops got beaten to it!
