How do they actually make corn dogs? (1 Viewer)

Not sure but I saw a crow fly off with a full corn dog in Arkansas, looked like something from a 1970s Godzilla movie. Pretty sure that picture should be on the Arkansas state flag.

Insert stick in hot dog. Dip hot dog in cornmeal batter. Deep fry.
Yeah, and you could do it with brats or anything, as long as its already cooked. The time in the hot oil won't be long enough for something raw.
Absolutely, just grill the sausage first. My buddies and I created the "Death Blow" at a tailgate party about 15 years ago. Wrapped sausage in bacon and grilled until cooked and bacon was crisp. Then battered it and deep fried it. Served on a pretzel roll smothered in onion and crushed red pepper jam, a squeeze of gorgonzola sauce and a ladle of Louisiana hot sauce.

Was watching a 'Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives' recently and they went to a place that did fried shrimp by dipping them into corn dog batter. Looked awesome.

I've always wondered how some people get those checkerboard or diamond pattern marks on grilled steaks. I've never been able to find a grill grate with that pattern though. :kicksrock:

If you're serious...

On a regular grate, lay on you meat on the grill and after a few minutes, lift it up and rotate it 90 degrees and set the same side back down on the grate. Do the same thing when you cook the other side in case you screw this side up.
