How do you choose your favourite NFL team? (1 Viewer)

Whichever one is broadcast the most where you live might be a good choice too. (If any??)

Many of the AZ natives I know are Cowboys and Broncos fans because they say those were the games most often shown on TV locally before the Cardinals came to town.

Also, slight hijack. I stumble onto Aussie Rules football on TV sometimes. Do people in Australia devoutly follow it, or is it just sort of a sideshow? The stands have looked half empty during the last couple of matches I've seen.
I have NFL Game Pass, so I can watch every game.

Don't know nothing about Aussie football sry, not from Australia. :)

With no historical or geographical ties, you have a few choices:

1) Don't take a team that is cursed with no signs of life. (i.e. Lions, Browns, Raiders, Jaguars, Dolphins, Jets, Bills, Bengals, Titans, Chargers, Chiefs, Eagles, Vikings, Panthers, Buccaneers, Cardinals, Rams.) You need some immediate payoff and you don't want to watch a team continue to lose.

2) Don't take a team that every other random person is willing to jump on the bandwagon (i.e. Cowboys, Bears, and Giants)

3) Do consider a team with a young and good QB! (Colts, Redskins, 49ers, Seahawks.)

4) Or you could just pick a team that is going to win a lot of games. (Broncos, Packers, Falcons, Saints, Texans, Patriots)

5) Consider time zone. If you pick a West Coast team, the games will be later... maybe that is good maybe it is bad?

Save yourself the money and just streamRZ channel

The best way to go about finding your favorite team is to:

A. Take a team and ask yourself "are they the Pats?"

If not then:

B. pick another team and repeat step A until you come up with a definitive "yes"

That will be your new favorite team.

If you watch enough... the team chooses you.

True, unless you're more a ff fan. I grew up near Detroit and a lions fan. Unfortunately, i grew to despise the owner. Still a red wings and tigers fan.

When i first moved, i started cheering for that local team, the falcons. I kept moving and would cheer for the local teams (chiefs, titans, and panthers) but wouldn't really call myself a true fan of any, at least not enough to buy Jerseys and other merch and certainly not a die hard fan.

I feel much more allegiance to my college team even though they suck at football. Maybe I'm more of a college fan.

You can't force yourself to pick a specific team, or it will feel fake without some sort of connection. That might be the owner, the uniform, a coach, fan base, or something else. Honestly, my favorite player was randle el (also a big fan of Charlie batch, went to under grad with him), i like the Pittsburgh fans, they wear my favorite uniform, respect the Rooneys... I think I'm a closet steelers fan.

Definitely pick a team that has not won a Super Bowl. The chase for that first championship is exhilarating. It just isn't the same once you have a highlight tape of your team hoisting the Lombardi.

When I was 6 my family moved to New Orleans two weeks before the Saints' first preseason game. I'm a Saints lifer with no possibility of parole. Black and gold looks sharp, but the fluer de lis might be a bit French for some.

I was 7 or 8 years old and bought a pack of football cards. One of the first cards I got was Spider Lockhart. Cool name, and have been a Giants fan ever since.

I've been down this road before, not because I live overseas, but because my team left (Oilers). I had to decide if I wanted to follow the Titans in the years where Houston had no team or just wait and see if one returned. When Houston got the Texans, I started following them. But those years in between, I followed my dad's team (Giants) and they're still my second favorite team.

I have a three year old son that loves soccer/football as well and he used to wake up early as heck and ask to watch EPL soccer. It just so happened that he always seemed to want to watch when Arsenal was on, so over time he just started rooting for the red team.

Point being, pick a reason that means something to you and just run with it. I agree though that picking a safe choice isn't as much fun long term, but pick a team that you feel is fun to follow.

Always been location for me.

Grew up 20-30 minutes from Lambeau with season tickets throughout my family.

Moved to TN and stuck with the Packers and most Wisconsin teams (my MLB fanhood is pretty relaxed and I don't care too much about the NBA...but college Im all for UW).

Right when we moved to Nashville after college the Titans and Predators came. So we pulled for the Titans a bit to support the local team...even had season tickets for a while. But was never too into it (though, pretty exciting in the Super Bowl year). Just never felt the same as pulling for the Packers.
