How do you deal with (1 Viewer)

I've commished a 12 team roto keeper league for about 10 years now

It's a redraft/keeper league with keepers getting their values from where they are drafted....each year a player is kept, his value increases

Our rules state that the teams finishing in the bottom 3 positions will be thrown into a hat to determine their draft position(after keepers are submitted). This accomplishes two things, it doesn't allow an owner to tank and be guaranteed the first draft position. It also doesn't allow an owner to hold onto a high a priced keeper, with the thoughts of not keeping him, and re-drafting him with first pick......getting said player on the cheap for the next few years

Problem this year: We've had several team dump salary and start looking towards next year(I've got no problem with this). One owner has gone as far as to sit some of his better players(C Crawford), in what I believe is an attempt to make sure he receives one of the top 3 draft positions?

But in doing so, changes the standings by not putting his best team on the field.

What does your league do to stop this kind of league altering behavior?

1. You need to have atleast the last 6 be drawn out of a hat.

2. It's their choice as to whom they want to play, so if you don't like how they play, either talk to them about it or find new people.

Yo Wrigs - simple solution here but VERY effective and better for the whole league -

For ALL the teams not finishing in the money, the "order" starts with the highest team - so in a 12 team league for the following season, assuming you pay four, the order would be

5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,4,3,2,1

This order can be used for all things, draft order, minor league draft, your keeper situation whatever - BUT the point is this keeps TRYING to be the best they can all year which keeps all the categories and scoring relevant for them AND for the contending teams.
