How do you feel about Cutler now? (current info on pg 46) (2 Viewers)

As I said...inconsistent Jay Cutler...but it must be because I just hate the Bears right???
Trestman already came out and said Marshall ran the wrong route. Not on Jay. He tried to force the one throw over the middle and it got knocked up in the air. It's not like he threw it into triple coverage.
Sure...had another that could have been picked too if Tramon rolls the other way or gets his hand under it.

2 muffed snaps too...against any decent defense he does no turn those into 30+ yards and first downs.

Jay wasn't good in the 2nd half (and I said it might have been on the WR on the one pick in the game thread).

He is still an inconsistent guy that will make bad decisions sometimes.

Always inconsistent but less so over the last 2 years. He's had no terrible games this year. 2 great games, 1 okay game, and a below average one today, but by no means terrible. He's not a top 5 qb. Everyone knows that, but he has shown a lot of improvement with Trestman.

pretty sure that's all I heard from the pro cutler crowd in august --- a top 5 qb that you could steal late in the draft

Buffalo game was pretty bad...2nd half today was pretty bad.

I wouldn't call that Jets game great...he got away with several balls thrown right into the arms of the Jets...and the fumble they did get right should have been right off the bat and would have cost them 6.

2nd half in SF was brilliant though. No doubt about that.

And he was very good in the first half today.

Though yeah...he has not had one of those old Cutler terrible games yet. So he has that going for him.

And great big targets to throw to in the redzone and will put up great FF numbers because of it.

I'm talking about real life. He could very well finish top5 in fantasy.

I can go along with this.

On the 2nd int today, there was some mis communication between Marshall and Cutler. It happens. All Qbs throw picks because of that reason. If Cutler had pump faked there, he would have Marshall wide open for 6....and if Marshall had cut in, he would have got the completion.

On the 1st int, sure he threw in traffic but the ball was tipped. Cutler played fine today and was in command of the game. If only the Bears D had Allen and Ratliff today, it would have made a world of difference.

In the Buffalo game he had 280+ yards plus multiple TDs....you are clueless as usual. The pick to the fat DL was a fluke int - it happens.

When everyone thinks you're clueless, that should tell you something. Of course, it doesn't.

Still had a ton of yards and 2 TDs... even with the two picks he's going to be around QB5-7 overall so far this year after this week.

He's outperforming his ADP and that's all you can ask for players. I'm still very happy getting him in 9th+ in several leagues this year.

Cutler quite obviously isn't a top 5 NFL, or even top 10, but he could easily be a top 5 fantasy QB this year. He's on pace for 40 touchdown passes, which would be 13 more than his current high for a season.

The ball was "tipped" because the WR had inside leverage...read Cutler easily and jumped the route.

It wasn't some terrible tipped ball at the line. The DB broke and took the ball (should have caught it himself).

Glad you still make excuses though.

So just how many of Cutler's INTs are actually his fault now Sweetness?

Talk about clueless...you are impressed by 280 yards and 2 TDs...make excuses for INTs...to try and claim that was a well played game by Culter is laughable...but expected from you.

It apparently is to guys like Sweetness and others.

I've never seen cutty throw a pick that was his fault --- and I've seen plenty of them....

At this point we know what he is. He's quite gifted, but this flaws are not going to suddenly go away after 8 years.

I think there's decent upside as a fantasy QB, especially if your league doesn't penalize for turnovers. Bennett looks like he's really going to eat in this offense. Between him, Forte, and the big weapons outside, the offense should put up big numbers.

Trestman said today that Marshall was supposed to run a 18 yard hook and instead turned it into a go on that 2nd int.... I am sure schmucks like shonuff do not care about facts since it does not suit their narrative.

I stated both here and in the game thread that was likely a miscommunication.

What about the other pick that you called a fluke tipped ball?

Or the one that Tramon almost had (you know...since you talk so much in the Bear thread about the "almost" TDs the Bears had yesterday as you make more excuses)

edit: seeing the play again...even if it was supposed to be a hook, Shields is sitting on that route reading Cutler like a book.

His only hope would have been that Marshall got in his way or it still would have been picked.

Cutler with three more costly turnovers yesterday in a close loss. Sweetness will now tell us whose fault they were this time.

Worth every penny that the idiots in the ivory tower paid him. He will NEVER take this team to a championship. Great arm though. Has a real cannon. The rest of his game is cannon fodder and he has cute hair.
I'm starting to come around to this opinion and I'm one of the biggest Cutler butt kissers here. He's just way too inconsistent. It finally hit me watching the game yesterday that he will never take this team anywhere.

I loved the..."fluke tipped pass" when the Corner jumped the route and the only reason it was a "tipped" ball is that the corner didn't catch it but it bounced right to an LB.

Also the excuse on the "Marshall ran the wrong route" is great. Especially since the corner that picked it off looked to be reading the QB and sitting on that comeback/curl route. Meaning it was still a crappy pass and decision.

Cutler is the glass version of Brett Favre. If he stays healthy he's a top 5 QB this year.

A source tells ESPN that Brandon Marshall called out Jay Cutler following Sunday's loss to the Dolphins.

The Bears have lost three of their last four games and frustration is boiling over. Yelling could be heard from outside the locker room after the loss. The source told ESPN "there are some very selfish individuals in the locker room." Note that Marshall finished with 6-48-0 on 10 targets, but was barely involved at all in the first half. Former Bromance partner Cutler had his worst game of the season, throwing for just 190 yards with one touchodwn and one interception.

Halfway through the game Sunday against the Dolphins, the Bears decided that less of Jay Cutler was a good thing.

Matt Forte ran the ball only two times in the first half in part, coach Marc Trestman said Monday, because four other plays were turned into passes by Cutler.

Two were changed at the line, he said, and two more were run/pass options in which Cutler chose to throw.

“We threw it a little bit more early, but that wasn’t the plan,” Trestman said. “The plan was to kind of do it the way we did it in the third quarter. And that’s what we went back to doing.”

They scrapped the options at halftime, taking some decision-making away from Cutler. The Bears handed the ball off seven times to Forte on the first possession of the second half, the team’s lone consistent drive in its 27-14 loss.

“We took some of the options off, and we handed the football off,” Trestman said. “And we got more of what we would expect out of our offense — a good, solid drive.”

The Bears had 14 rushing yards in the first half and 16 on the first handoff of the second half to Forte. He finished the drive with 33 rushing yards.

Forte sounded frustrated about not getting the ball more in the first half, when the Bears fell behind 14-0.

“You just wait,” he said. “It’s just aggravating. You have to wait for stuff to come together. Obviously, you’ve gotta run the ball more in the first half.”

If Cutler had an opinion on the matter, he didn’t share it Monday. He went radio-silent, canceling his appearance on his own show.

Canceled his appearance on the show... really Jay?

Good luck figuring this guy out - he'll follow up a 4 INT game with 4 TD's.*

*Not that I'm recommending starting him against the Patriots.

The Trestman offense scored 24 points on eventual AFC North champion Cincinnati in the first game of the Trestman Era. Only five defenses in the NFL allowed fewer points than the Bengals did last season. That was followed by 31 against the Minnesota Vikings, then 40 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

That comes out to 31.7 points per game. From that point on, the Bears have averaged 26.9 points per game.

This year that rate is down to 22.4 per game, 18th in the NFL.

Green Bay defensive backs said they were wired in on what the Bears and Cutler were going to be doing. Miami safety Reshad Jones, whose interception of Cutler and 50-yard return was arguably the turning point of Sunday's game with its reversal of field position with the score 7-0, was specific:

“After watching film all week, we saw that (Cutler) was looking where he threw the ball,” Jones said. “He was always looking at his receivers and never looking off.”
