How good will my Bears be this year? (1 Viewer)

Chi is of now my favorite to win the NFC. Sea could obviously push, but I'm thinking a SB hangover is in order. The NFC south and East are just going to be dog fights to the end and I can't see Chi not ending up with homefield throughout the playoffs with that schedule.

Every year the Chi haters rain on our parade. Just looking at the division, how can anyone NOT see the Bears as the favorite?

Det - c'mon...this is the LIONS, for crying out loud. Have NEVER won anything. But for concrete reasons as to why they are NOT the favorite....A new coaching staff, a new (to the team) QB/ An underachieving WR corps that can't stay healthy to boot. RB - if KJ doesn't reproduce that magic he had the second half of his rookie season, no point discussing it further. Defensively...average.

Min - again, they never win. How many 4-0, 5-0, or 6-0 seasons have ended in disaster? Brad Johnson is serviceable, maybe. Koren Robinson is their "bright" spot. Rest of the WR corps is unspectacular. Scatback/RB du jour good for a big game or two, but the oft-injured RB corps still lacks the physical runner necessary to gain the tough yards. New coach. ?still recovering from the Love Boat PR nightmare? That "revamped" defense everyone was blabbing about last year really panned out, huh.

GB - closest team to having a chance...anybody with a HOF-bound QB has a chance. I think OL is really suspect, just as it was last year when they lost 2 starters to FAcy. Still, though...new coach, RB situation completely unresolved and probably less desirable than most some of the packer lovers like to think. I do like their LB's and they are almost always tough at home and they got Favre. I'm not sure they're WR corps is inherently any better than the Bears (Moose > Driver, whoever wins GB#2 probably > Gage/Bradley/Currie/Berrian). Basically, what it boils down to between the Bears and Packers is where the games are won...in the trenches...and the Bears have a better OL and DL than the Pack.

Chi - they will win it because they're the only team in the division with some sense of continuity amongst the coaching staff, the offensive and defensive schemes, returning starters, and basically a general sense of direction within the organization as a whole. In addition to returning all 22 starters from a division winning squad and arguably the best or second best def in the league, they probably have the most returning "potential HR hitters" who didn't do squat last year....Benson, Mark Bradley, Auriesse Currie. To reiterate from above, the OL and DL combo is probably hands down the best in the division as a whole. That's a whole lot more than I intended on typing...

Completely agree. At least an argument could be made for STL having a lot of tools in place to challenge SEA(though I still think SEA wins that division comfortably). Not buying into the ARZ hype and SF is at least two years away.

It will be interesting if the teams in the NFC south/east come into the playoffs more prepared considering the dogfight it will take for them to scratch their way to the playoffs.

The only thing I would add at this point is that in my leagues' scoring system Gado and Jones had very similar per week fantasy scoring (around 13.5 PPG). They finished like 13th and 14th in terms of PPG.

I am not intending to be disrespectful to the Bears. I can certainly see favoring them to win the division based on a single season doing MUCH better than the Packers. But I also think that the Packers DEF might be improved (slightly closing the gap) and that historically they have done much better than they did in a injury-swamped year.

Finally I have to say that getting rid of Sherman can only be adidtion by subtraction. I fully expect Favre's interceptions to be down this year from last and the play calling in the red zone to be improved as well.

Maybe, if Kitna survives games 1 & 2 (Hawks & Bears).I figure the Pack to beat the Bears in game 1 (good defenses sometimes start slow, especially against an new offense they haven't seen) which should make them very very angry when they play the Lions in week 2.

Hope the Bears and Pack are tied for Game 17 at the end!!! The winner gets a bye and the loser gets the wild card.

The NFC looks to be very tough this year making it hard for anyone to get above 10-6. Note that the NFC North looks to have the easier schedule this year.

Packers had #7 defense last year due to poor tackling. They added Hawk, Hodge, Woodson, & Pickens. All solid tacklers (Kemp & Pick were #1 & #2 last year). Take away 5-10 interceptions and you have a possible top 5 defense. :excited: Add Favre, College, Spitz, Jennings & the new offensive coach (from Denver / Atlanta fame) and you have an offense that can move the ball. :)

YES, the PACK are going to be starting 5 rooks because they are that good (not counting the new kick returner). And Walker made it all possible by demanding a trade. :boxing:

Of course injuries are always a big concern and rookies running around with guns. Idiot

And the Bears with Grossman, Childress in Minnisota, and Martz in Detroit.

But then great seasons are remembered for great competition so this looks to be one of those for whoever comes out on top.

The Bears will not win the Division next year and I will proove it!

2001 Chicago Bears 13-3 overall record with a 6-2 division record

2005 Chicago Bears 11-5 overall record with a 5-1 division record

oddly similar right?

well the 2002 Bears were 4-12 overall and a 2-4 division record

and 2006 will be oddly similar as well.

in 2001 they had 2 divisional losses, then they had 2 divisional wins in 2002.

in 2005 they had 1 divisional loss and so they will have 1 divisional win in 2006.

So after my mathmatical breakdown you must agree that the Bears will have the same number of games dropped off as from 2001 to 2002 and will have an overall record of 2-15 and a 1-5 division record.

Q: You put Coach Ditka up against a tornado in Soldier Field... who's gonna win dat one?

A: DITKA!

Oh, yeea... Da Bearsss.

if ditka was driving da' bus they'd be 16 and oh

   The only thing this "prooves" is that you spend too much time trying to figure "mathmatical" probability and not enough time learning to spell.

Oh, and that you're most likely a Packer fan. :P

Not a Packer fan, and it was just a joke!!!!good lord you chic-a-go's take things to seriously

If the Bears aren't 10-6 all Bears fans should be humiliated...

all those first year coaches they face....

the easiest schedule in the NFL...

And Griese to backup/push Grossman at their weak link position.
Prepare to be humiliated. But that's nothing new to you guys, hey? :D
Actually it is new. But I guess we better watch some Packer playoff game tapes to learn what REAL humiliation is, eh buddy? As for the "spanking" we got in last years playoffs, I don't consider a 7 point loss a "spanking".

Again, for a real definition of a playoff "spanking" see the Packers last few playoff games. :bag:

Oh wait, I can almost hear the keys being clicked by some furious cheese-lover. "AT LEAST WE MADE IT TO THE PLAYOFFS!!!"

Sure thing there, pal. Nothing like rolling through a soft NFC North every year to be completely dismantled in the first couple of rounds.

...Remember 4th and 26? :lmao:

...How about Favre's pick-a-thon in St Louis? :lmao:

..Or maybe the crushing Atlanta loss at Lambeau, where you were supposedly unbeatable in January, to a ROOKIE QB from a DOME team? :lmao:

I love it when the Packers make the playoffs. It makes the unavoidable collapse in front of the entire nation that much sweeter. :bye:
Wow, you REALLY get a lot of pleasure in seeing the packers fail in the playoffs...

Bajeebuz! Give daBehrs fans a break for crimany out loud!

Dis is da only time a year dey get ta talk da smackola!

:lmao:   :lmao:   :lmao:
Hilarious  This thread is so stupid already. If football fans cant realize the Bears are going to be a big time team this year, than you just arent paying attention, but you will see. Guranteed. That D will punish offenses more than it did last year and the O will be improved with more stability at qb, an awesome ground game and a strong o-line.

What are most of you missing in that equation?

I do. I used to have a boss who was a Green Gay fan. We would butt heads constantly. Any time he would bring up the Packers division (and Bears) dominance in the 90s, I would throw back their recent playoff record. That would shut him up real quick.

Everything's cyclical in our division. The Vikings ruled in the 70s, the Bears in the 80s, the Pack in the 90s. It all comes around again for the teams in the North.

That is, except for the Lions. :bag: But their time is coming.

Truth is, I'm concerned about Detroit more than any other North team in the next few years. Martz helped take a crappy Rams team and make them into a near dynasty VERY quickly. I look for him to try and build the same thing in Motor City.

Week 1 Sep 10 4:15pm at Green Bay -Bear win

Week 2 Sep 17 1:00pm Detroit - Bear win

Week 3 Sep 24 1:00pm at Minnesota - Bear loss

Week 4 Oct 1 8:15pm Seattle - Bear loss

Week 5 Oct 8 1:00pm Buffalo -Bear win

Week 6 Oct 16 8:30pm at Arizona Bear loss, AZ improved 06

Week 7 -- bye--

Week 8 Oct 29 1:00pm San Francisco Bear Win

Week 9 Nov 5 1:00pm Miami Bear win

Week 10 Nov 12 1:00pm at New York Giants - Bear loss

Week 11 Nov 19 1:00pm at New York Jets - Bear Win

Week 12 Nov 26 1:00pm at New England Bear loss

Week 13 Dec 3 1:00pm Minnesota -Bear win

Week 14 Dec 11 8:30pm at St Louis - Bear loss

Week 15 Dec 17 1:00pm Tampa Bay Bear win

Week 16 Dec 24 1:00pm at Detroit - Bear win

Week 17 Dec 31 1:00pm Green Bay - Bear win

10-6 looks about right for the Bears, should win Division and lose to Seattle in play offs.

Man finishing 2-15 will be very...very hard for the bears...hahaha
