How high would you draft Santana? (1 Viewer)

He would be a 3rd rounder - last pick in the round actually. I was going back and forth with Hafner. My problem is eligibility - he is only a DH. If I could get him into 1st base (I think he missed by like 2 games) I'd love to keep him. Also, given where I see everyone going with their keepers, SP will be at a premium in the draft, so my thought was stay stocked there, and just take every hitter I can until I have to fill in the bench. As for Cano, that is solely value and value only. It's strategy as well. I don't think anyone will take Hafner in the first two rounds given his position status, so I think I can grab him again anyway.
I see he played 4 games at 1B last year which makes me think that 5 is your eligible number. From what I've read, there are intentions of playing Hafner at 1B about once a week. If that's true, he'd be eligible no later than mid May.The below is a 3/6 update on him from rotoworld via Cleveland Plain Dealer. I'd be looking into how much 1B time he got in spring as a gauge of how legit this is.
Travis Hafner is expected to play first base several times per week during spring training and said Monday that he may try to play the position once a week during the season.Hafner was limited to just four games at first base because of elbow problems last season. "We'll see how much or how little they need me once the season starts," Hafner said. "We have three or four other guys who can play over there. Throwing a few days in a row bothered me. That's why we talked about playing once a week so when interleague comes, my arm feels a little better."
Our eligibility is 10 - I was reading the stats wrong on the CBS site. Guillen played 8 at 1st and my eyes didn't work. But if they are going to do that with him, then it changes things...... thanks for the info.

I'm new to fantasy baseball this year and need help. Joined a weekly matchup points league at work and have no idea of player values.

Figured I'd pay the stupid tax this year in a low money league.

Need a good OVERALL cheatsheet for free. Looked into baseball cafe rankings and no way I'm gonna bring a 21 page list to the draft.

Can anybody point me in the right direction?

A BIG TIA for any help.

So if he plays once a week, that's 1B eligible in June......Hmmmm....
Wanted to follow up on this given the discussion because it helped me going into my draft.I decided not to keep Hafner after hanging him out as trade bait to discover interest. Many a reply back was that no one valued him as high as he probably should have been given that he isn't eligible in any position yet. I did not reveal the possible 1B usage.Given those responses, I decided to throw him back into the pool thinking I could get him again at roughly the same cost he would have been as a keeper, only I potentially have an extra year with him. So, I kept Zambrano, Shmidt, Zito, Kazmir and Cano as previously posted. My team ended up as follows:(stats: HR, RBI, R, SB, SLG, OBP, BA, 2B+3B and W, SV, K, ERA, WHIP, QS, H, APP)Current Active:B McCann C J Giambi 1B R Cano 2B E Chavez 3B C Guillen SS C Patterson OF J Bay OF R Freel OF T Hafner U B Zito SP C Zambrano SP J Schmidt SP S Kazmir SP T Glavine SP A Benitez RP B Wickman RP H Street RP S Torres RP Current Bench:M Barrett C C Jones 3B J Pierre OF R Baldelli OF C Hensley SP J Garland SP E Gagne RPI probably should have started Baldelli this week but some personal stuff got in the way. Anyhow, I find my pitching to be solid as compared to the rest of the league, and Torres has already paid dividends based on the 24th round I got him in (I think everyone forgot Pittsburgh had a baseball team). My OF needs help, and compared to the league I'm thinking my power numbers will be on the low end, but I should be ok as long as the other stats stay solid.Overall, at the draft I gave myself no more then a C+ with this team. But the more I look at it, I think it's a solid B with potential. I think defending my title will be tough, but I don't think I'll pull a Marlins title defense either.
