How Long for Duece? (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
I am drafting an initial Dynasty draft and am thinking about reaching for R. Bush at my 1.05 pick

This is a standard scoring league no PPR

So my question is how long will Duece be around?

How long until Bush is the sole ball carrier, or is this to much of a reach and I would be better off with L. J., Gore or Addai?

Hope to hear some insight?

Thanks

I believe McAllister is gone in 2008, so he (McAllister) will probably hold more value next year than most think. As long as he's in New Orleans he will be used just like he was last year. I don't think the Saints want to ever use Reggie Bush as a workhorse back. Even when McAllister is gone I believe they will find another one that looks just like him. Maybe that guy is Antonio Pittman, maybe not.

So over the next several years you would project What for R. Bush as a Ceiling.Maybe only 12- 15 tds ayear?

Reggie Bush will get his 175-200 carries each year for about 700-800 yds and 4-8 tds. He will also get 80-100 receptions per year for 700-900 yds and 3 or 4 tds, so Bush will be a very valuable fantasy asset. He's just more valuable in a PPR league. His combined rush / rec yds and tds will make Reggie a stud for years to come, but I don't think he will ever be an every down back because I don't think the Saints want to use him that way. Now if they don't have a "Deuce" compliment, then things may change. I'm not saying he couldn't be "Marshall Faulk" like, but if the Saints can continue like they are going, I don't see them changning anytime soon.

McAllister helps to keep the Saints offense on the field longer, which means more Fantasy value for Bush, Brees and Colston. You'd almost be better holding Bush 'til '08 then trading if they don't find a comp back.

Deuce has already stated that he would like to remain with the team and would probably restructure to stay with the team. Mickey Loomis ( GM) said that they will compensate him for all the work he has done for the team and community. Deuce is what you call a class act and perfect teamamate. Take it for what its worth but I am sure they will try to keep him. The only way I see him gone is if his production falls and he has lost a few pounds this year and is said to be faster. Think back when Deuce was breaking 60yd runs and nobody could catch him. Im not saying he is just as fast but the word in camp is he will be ready.

As much as we think he's an altruist.. if he's not going to play, he won't stick around. It's pretty simple. No athlete is going to accept a bench role when he knows he can play. It just won't happen. Now if he gets them to agree to his current role... 250+ carries for the next few years while Bush is around.. then fine, otherwise, don't believe it.Deuce has 3 more good years in him.. I would think by 31 he'd still be effective. I mean, it's not like he has a lot of carries under his belt, though perhaps injuries more than make up for that wear and tear... Anyways, I would expect good numbers (RB2+) for him through 2009.. whether he stays in NO as RBBC or moves to another team as a starter.

I would suspect Bush will be in the 8-10 tds a year, with his receiving and rushing yards is very good.

I know this more about dynasty, but I just am blown away by Deuce's ranking and ADP this year. Deuce finished 14th in ppg last year. Sure, Bush heated up towards the end of the year, but so did Deuce: Deuce averaged 14.6 ppg in the final 8 games vs 11 ppg over the first 9 games. Plus he is returning to the same offense, with all the keep pieces in place. Final thing to think about, experts always say it takes 2 years to fully recover from a major knee injury- well Deuce should now be 100% and could be even more explosive then last year.
