Just wondering how does it change your outlook on fantasy football when you play in more than 1 league - I have a close group of friends who have been playing in the same league for about 8-9 years now and I always get bummed out when I lose in the playoffs.

Does it help soften the blow to play in multiple leagues? If so do you play in a lot of money leagues? How much? Do you find the commissioners payout on time and the entry fees are something you are comfortable with?

How intense do some of the leagues you play in get? My 1 league we do not yet have IDP and a lot of the owners are against it.

I played in 13 this year, 9 PPR dynasties, 2 salary cap PPR dynasties, and 2 PPR redrafts. Made playoffs in eight. Made the finals in 4, looks like I will win of those. The total price for all the leagues was $967 and looks like I will win somewhere between 1550 and 1750 depending on the outcome of the last two games this weel.

I don't think it takes me much longer to take care of 13 teams than 3. You need to know whats going on in the NFL for 1 team just as much as 13, just takes a few minutes longer doing waivers and such.

was in 2 but I went back up to 3 after adding my first dynasty league this year.

honestly, I'd like to just get down to only 1 (dynasty) but I can't get myself to quit my work league (redraft league going on 15+ years now)

and a Keep-3 league that I'm the commissioner of.

I play in one dynasty league that started in 2003 . . .

Once I played in up to 4 leagues - then I'd (for example) have Marvin Harrison in two leagues and I might face him in 1 or 2 or the others - sort of took the air out of my balloon when he scored . . . Should I cheer or cry . . .

Sundays weren't any fun for me until I dropped back to one league - either I have a player rostered or I don't . . .

I jumped up to 3 leagues for the first time this year, and I think I'm dialing back to just 2 next season. My local keeper league is the one that matters to me, and I find myself caring about it way more than any other league. I'm more of a "get attached to my guys and root for them" type of player, so there was way too much dissonance going on with three leagues.

2 has been a fine number, though. One pure redraft, one keeper.

Amen, and the exact sentiment for me. I was always a one league guy. I joined another league because some friends asked, and I hated it for the exact reason you stated. I went back to just my original league with my college buddies, and I'll never consider multiple leagues again.

I did 4 this year, but 2 of them were just for the use of doing mock drafts basically. The other 2 were money leagues that I put most of my focus in.

My cousin played in 3-4 leagues on some site that has various amounts of money for team entries (he did $100 per owner league) and had good success in them. Might do a few of those next year to (hopefully) make some more $$$

Do 17, 7 dynasty, 10 redraft (7 drafts & 3 auctions), it is fun. But I, do miss out on some possible trades and waiver pickups. The rules and waiver and trades deadlines differ in each, but no plans to drop any next year.

Don't care if I have a guy in a couple and am playing against him. I love football, let the points fall where they may, i have an interest in every game, enjoy the rush.

Am currently in 10 (6 dynasty, 1 keeper and 3 redraft) I have to say I like the dynasty and keeper the best because it is easier to do waivers (we have an auction system in most of them) and I like the year round involvement of the dynasty and it seems like there is less luck involved. I stay in the redraft for nostalgia sake with a bunch of friends. Only 3 of them are money leagues though with the most being a $50 league.

2. My main money league and I always have to play 1 Yahoo public league, dont know why guess because its usually an easy win.

In 5 - 1 Dynasty, 4 redraft, 1 of the redraft has a modified PPR structure (need 5-7 catches in order to get points, depending on position). Money and intensity varies widely by league.

The "I have Aaron Rodgers and I'm playing Aaron Rodgers" thing doesn't bother me any more. I basically pick one or two games to watch intensely and don't worry about the other ones until about 4:30 on Sunday afternoon. Usually means I have something to root for (or against) on Monday nights, and I like the "I need Aaron Rodgers to score between 16 and 19 points in order to win both games" thing.

The downside is trading - I just don't have the capacity to analyze all of the other teams in my leagues to figure out who is ripe to trade with during the season. Made two trades this year, but both started with them offering me, vs. me going out to them. Case in point is past seasons, I would definitely have traded for Witten in my dynasty league after Clark went down, but was busy making trade in other league at the time...

more than 10 leagues? seriously? I can only imagine doing that if I was a high school student or professionally unemployed

21 leagues? what the christ

are you kidding me people? putting almost $1000 into 10+ leagues? is that a joke? how are you supposed to keep track of all those players, not to mention having the cheer and root for conflicting players. UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS AT WORKwith this being my 2nd year of fantasy and only doing free leagues, i did three: one with family (no one knew crap, but me and another relative will make a real league next year), one actually competitive keeper league i joined this year (lost this super bowl), and one for a forum i visit.

i'm probably going to move into a low-cost money league next year (like <$20) and stay with my keeper and a family one, so like 3 total

I was in 6 leagues this year (4 Dynasty and 2 Keeper leagues) down from 8 the year before (2 leagues folded or I would have continued in them). These are all money leagues, running from $50-$100, probably averaging about $75. I have turned a modest profit every single year since 2005 and have had no problem collecting my winnings (although I check out a Commisioner the best I can before joining a new league, with references, etc.).

One nice thing about playing in multiple leagues is that you end up owning most of the players, so it tends to cancel out rooting for and against yourself the same week - although I am still alive in two championship games tonight with Michael Vick being on one squad while I am facing him as an opponent in another.

Actually once you are doing 3 or 4 leagues it is not that difficult to maintain twice that many. In fact I could probably handle about 10-12 leagues, it is not really that much more work.

The real problem with multiple leagues is the working the waiver wire. I dealt with that by doing all my waiver requests on Tuesdays and also setting my preliminary starting lineups at that time.

Does playing in multiple leagues soften the blow of losing? Yes, but only if you are skilled enough to make the playoffs in most of your leagues - I made the playoffs in 5 out of 6 leagues, but I imagine I would be in a sour mood right now if I hadn't qualified for the postseason in any of them.

I would suggest that you gradually add a league or two each year and see how that goes. If you can handle that, then keep increasing until it seems too burdensome. I have found the more leagues the better, but I have also had a pretty good run (although perhaps I have been really lucky).

Play in 3 leagues.

1. Redraft (well 1 keeper) been the commish since the beginning 16-17 years ago.

2. Work league I started, fell apart someone else picked back up - pure redraft, we've done auction a few times

3. Dynasty with friends. Probably my favorite or at least second favorite.

I like it because I have a variety of rules, league types, scoring etc.

I was up to 5, cut down to 4 because I hated the way the league was run even though I was part of it from the beginning, then finally cut it down to 3 and feel it's a great balance.

Total cost = around $300 pending on transactions etc.
