How much are you bidding for Torain? (1 Viewer)

Trying to get a feel for what people are bidding for Torain in their blind free agent bidding.

In 2 of my leagues that had waivers run last night, he went for 21% and 46% of total dollars respectively. Just curious what he's gone for in other leagues or what you're planning to bid for him.

I bid 18% and got him as the ONLY bid in my 10-team start 2 RB no flex league. I was shocked. These guys are usually on breakout RBs like flies on poop but not this time. I think it was an anomaly compared to other leagues, but I could've gotten him for free in mine.

I think doubts about Skeletor, the bye week and Torain's injury history scared guys off. And I think everyone else might have assumed a big bid was coming. I know I did.

I am not so sure that Torain is my #1 target this week. I may go in for Ridley instead, in 5-6 weeks we could be watching Helu or Hightower starting for the Skins again whereas Ridley could keep improving.

Either way, I have 41% of our FA budget left and I am very likely to spend it all. Waiver wire is depleted other than these two guys (Cruz is probably the only other worth owning on our wire) and landing a top 24 RB at this point is worth the risk.

Nothing. Torain's own injury history combined with the presence of Helu and the fact that Hightower won't be out for more than about a month strikes me as a situation to just avoid entirely.

Now Ridley on the other hand, he's worth getting in on.

since 1997 shanny's top back has received 47% or more of the overall carries in a season 9 times, including last year when Torain had 47%. Torain, as long as he is healthy and putting up similar stats to last year, will be the lead back. When he gets hurt or if he produces as hightower has, we may get to see Helu and his shot. I will ride the hot back. I think I won with 30% of my avail FA $ and noone else bid.

Complete disclosure, I also have Helu, but not Hightower.

What exactly is meant by this?

I was surprised to get Torain for 28%. I had him last year and watched him play and how Shanny used him. Torain won the job and held it with his effective running until he got injured. When Torain came back he was given the start again, unfortunately he came back too soon and got reinjured. It makes me wonder whether all these people dissing him really know what their talking about, or if they're just parroting some group think opinion of Shanny hijinks. I would have paid more for Torain if I wasn't so low on FAAB.

BTW, I picked up Ridley for 14% last week. Of the two, I think that Torain will be the more trustworthy back in the short-term.

got him for 10% and mine was the only bid. I bid the same on Ridley but someone else bid 20%. The history of our league shows very low bidding.

for me it's less an issue of what to bid and more an issue of who to drop. this week he is on bye, and no guarantee he gets a majority of carries in week 6 assuming hightower is rested by then (and I haven't read anything indicating hightower is likely to miss week 6)

I drafted this guy and now have put in a bid of $270 of my $500.
Haha, same boat. Drafted, dropped, and won back with $30. I can't forget Torain vs. the Bears last year. Or Torain vs. Tampa in week 14, 172 yards. The guy is a man-beast. Ride that beast while you can and enjoy every moment of the Torain Steamroller.

I do that once a season, as I am sure most do, and draft a solid guy but drop him too soon.I won him with $220, small victory!

In one league with 208 rostered players (no kickers used), he went for about 55%. 2nd league with 200 rostered players (start 3 RBs), he went for about 90%. :bag: 3rd league with only 160 rostered players and with standard WW, he was the fifth player picked up. All of these leagues have DC based members.

Who are you guys dropping for Torain? I am considering Addai.
Is there anyone else on your bench you can drop? Addai is not a sexy RB, but he's looking better this year, is a starter, and save injury he's a great stash for bye weeks for your other RB's and respectable if one of your RB's gets injured.

I would drop Addai for Torain. I just think Addai presents almost no upside, but Torain looked very good last season and has a decent ceiling. But... I'd try and package Addai for something in a trade first...

Addai has 31 points through 4 games. Torain has 19 in 1. I also have Hightower so I am thinking I can lock down at least 2/3 of the Washington backfield.

I grabbed him for 12.5% of our budget, but I didn't need to even spend that much. The next highest bid was only 2.5%.

I dropped Tate for him.

I am considering dropping Addai or Tolbert. I just can't get myself to pull the trigger.
I'm personally dropping Jacobs. I'm holding out hope that Addai has a solid week this week vs KC before I consider dropping him.The reasons to keep Addai:Playing KC this weekSecond week with Painter, maybe him and Addai build rapport in the passing game

The other reason to keep Addai (at least while he is the starter) is that Torain may well start in Week 6 but as history tells us with Shanahan, who knows how long he remains as a starter - Hightower and Helu are both good backs and capable of being the starter so if you dropped Addai and Torain isn't the starter, then What?

agree, keep addai, drop a WR or a TE

I dropped Addai. I have other starting backs and need a reliable bench rb. With Tolbert, Hightower and Addai, I didn't feel comfortable with a backup option. At least this way I hope I have a starting rb between Torain and Hightower. I think the Wash rb has a higher ceiling than the Ind rb.

it means nothing he doesnt know anything
He's right, I don't have any inside info. that Hightower will even miss any time at all. All I meant by that statement was that he's questionable this week with a shoulder injury, but that he'll continue to be in the mix every week once 100% healthy.

Think they are saying Hightower doesn't really have a ton to do with the situation hurt or not..

51 percent and I'll know tonight at 6, also bid 33 prcent on Ridley in case I don't get Torrain. It's a 14 team league so the wire gets thin, these guys will get some attention.
