How much is Edge winning on his BETS? (1 Viewer)

ALL IN

Footballguy
Edge just now on the sidelines of the Miami vs FSU game says he is winning a real lot of money with Miami winning and that he took all the bets he could on FSU because everyone thinks Miami is weak now.

Well how much you think he is winning, for a guy who makes the cash he does how much is a lot of money to be winning while betting on a CFB game?

Think the NFL is interested in that comment or what? I guess NFL players can gamble all they want on the NCAA?? Hmmmmmm

I couldn't understand what he was trying to say. How about Paul giving him kudos for keeping it real when he graduated.
doubt he is a degree from Miami, don't think he even stayed around long enough for his Psy Ed. degree. That was Dan Patrick commenting I believe on Edge not changing his apperarence for the big bucks endorsements.

Both wrong, but you were closer. Mike Patrick.

"Stay gangsta, Edge!" -- Mike Patrick

Miami was favored by 3... even if Edge bet on the first half, he's a f*cking idiot for saying that stuff on national TV

What a clown. Same goes for Edge, who besides his genius comments about all the bets he was winning, added this gem about the University of Miami...something of the sort that Miami is just a 3-year school, anyway...That was one of the worst interviews I've seen in a long time. Miami should be proud.

Do you guys remember when he was a rookie for the Colts. It was a MNF game and they showed a picture of Edge working in the fields with his brother to make money over the summer or something. They were working for a farmer harvesting watermelons. Anyway, there he was standing there with a watermelon under both arms smiling as big as life with his silver teeth.

What does this have to do with anything? I don't know.

I looked for it, couldn't find it. Would love to see the picture though.

yep, a perfect example of how most waste a college education when given to them for free. For every Edge out there who has the talent to leave "Da U" and go to the NFL, life is good. Then again, there are countless Hurricanes who don't make the NFL and never earn that college degree. When I moved from Jacksonville to Orlando 2 years ago, one of the WRs from the 1984 National Championship team was one of my movers. I didn't know Miami had a degree in Boxology.

Edge said in the interview that he was making bets with his friends.... dont think the NFL would do more than a written reprimand....

.....now the fact that he look high/drunk could be another story (I love my new HD TV)

Would you want to be sober standing in the rain for a few hours?

Please don't go down that path. Try to keep the Shark Pool on NFL News and info. TIA.J

All I heard was that he was "winning a lot of money" because of all the bets he had going. Now sure it could be his friends but I did not hear who he was making these bets with. Can he make bets with his friends on NFL games, like if Ariz played Miami could he bet on his own team with all his friends or whoever? Doubt that would go over well....

While this makes great MB fodder, I doubt there is going to be much to this. I would be surprised if the NFL does anything more than a cursery look into the comments. Edge will say something like "it was a figure of speach" or he's just trying to get his street cred in order.

Bottom line, this is nothing to worry about.

As for the image of "The U", it should take some heat off my "Buckeyes" for a while.

And that may be the best thing to come out of this. :P

I would think an NFL investigation into his gambling efforts could easily negate or support anything he had to say. This is NOT one of those hesaid/she said moments. Just ask Pete Rose.

I thought the rule was that NFL players can't bet on the NFL.They're also not allowed to bet on college? Cooley says he plays in FF leagues. You think those are all free yahoo public legues? ;p

No matter what the rule is, if a player indicates that he is gambling while on National TV, the league has an obligation to determine the extent of his gambling. If I was the comissioner, I would have a problem with FF leagues that involved money. But even then, FF doesn't involve the direct outcome of games. If a player wants to throw away his career by playing like a schlub on the field in order to win his FF pool, I'd question his intelligence more than his character.

Pete got into trouble for betting on MLB games. Nothing happens to athletes who don't bet on games in their league.

No doubt he will get a good yalking to but I'd be surprised if it's anything more than that. I don't think the NFL wants to bring too much attention to this. They really don't want a problem to exist like gambling. That would be a severe black eye. Case in point, look at the steroid scandle that rocked the NFL. What you didn't know there was one? Neither does anyone else. And that's the point.
