How much longer will Sproles be the Saints RB to own? (1 Viewer)

Astangi

Sproles has been very solid every week and is a top-10 RB in every league I'm in.

We all know Ingram is supposed to be the back to own on this team, but that obviously hasn't been the case. There's a chance Ingram could break out in the 2nd-half, but Sproles will still be the 3rd-down and 2-minute RB on one of the most pass-heavy teams in the league. While PT has been more effective and could eat into Ingram's share, Sproles has no apparent threat to his involvement.

How much longer do folks see Sproles being at least a viable RB2 and what do you think will need to happen for him to drop out of the top-20 on a weekly basis?

He'll be good for the rest of the year. He'll probably lead the team in receoptions and is making the most of his carries.

This team can support two fantasy RB's but Sproles is better than Ingram right now. See Deuce and Reggie in Reggie's first year.

In PPR, he's good to go the rest of the year. The TDs won't come at their current pace, but it is reasonable to expect him to get another 6 or so, and average 5-6 grabs, 60-80 yds a game the rest of the way. He'll get plenty of redzone touches, but won't be a factor at the goal line. He looks fantastic in their offense, and his role won't change.

Great topic, and I'd love to see a staff write-up or the topic thrown out for the table discussion.

Yeah, what they all said above.

To see is to believe. Also the guy is just fun to watch, great to have on your team. he will have a multi TD game and it will make everyone who passed on him sick.

I also believe in Ingram though, he is a hold until later in the season, they are not mutually exclusive.

i don't see his role changing much. he's what the Saints wanted out of Reggie Bush even after they realized he wasn't a feature back, only now they're actually getting it.

In ppr for sure, no Saints Rb will surpass him this season. Even in non PPR he's probably the guy to have for the rest of the year barring injury

He's been starting for me ahead of addai and Turner in non-ppr. I like his floor of about 90 yds. Non-PPR.

In redraft I wouldn't trade for him. His value is high right now. Maybe trade him away but I don't see a drop off coming either.

Hold and be happy IMO. Guy gets touches, gets yards, and is a threat to score anytime he has space.

I can just about swap Sproles for Greg Jennings in a PPR and so far I've held off. I had an upside down draft and am #1 in points with Sproles as my RB1 ... although AJ's injury throws my plans upside down too. That said, they've scored the same so far and FBG's projects them the same forward and I'd think it's reasonable given his role.

The only thing I would worry about with Sproles is him wearing down late in the season. He's getting an awful lot of work right now.

I expect Pierre Thomas will become the back to own in this mess late in the season.

I don't get this? His touches per game:Week 1 = 9Week 2 = 12Week 3 = 8Week 4 = 12I would think 10-12 touches per game is not too many.

It's not just touches, it's snaps, and Sproles has been getting as many as Ingram/Thomas combined. That means he's running a lot of routes and doing a lot of blocking in addition to being the main guy on kickoff and punt returns.

How does Ivory fit into this offence going forward? Does THAT hurt Sproles?

He's averaging 33 snaps a game, a bit under 45%. So he's not getting more than Thomas and Ingram combined. Especially considering that he lines up with one or the other a half dozen times a game.Out of those, he's averages 4 rushes a game, 2 run blocks a game and two pass blocks a game. He's getting almost all his touches in space, I've watched every game and he's only had a couple of big hits on him. He's getting a good workload, but I don't think you can describe it as one that would wear him down. He's not being asked to gut out tough yards.

why Pierre and not Ingram? the coaches have shown they clearly favor Ingram, 43-27 edge in carries.

What's he worth?I have a hard time starting him over CJ and Peterson, but he's clearly been better.
