How Often Do Police Officers Show Up for Court? (2 Viewers)

Wife got another ticket I have to help her fight.  This time it was for 'unsafe left turn' at a green light with her turning signal on.  Apparently there were two cars in the oncoming lanes, one car was closer and another one further away.  The one further away happened to be a cop.  It was a young cop and he claimed that he had to slow down (wife assumes he was speeding since he passed the other car after she decided to turn).  Despite having to brake to avoid a collision (in his mind) he continued through the intersection, turned around, followed her and then gave her a ticket.  All this was with a client in the car (she's a real estate agent) who didn't think it was an unsafe turn.

Only one time did a cop ever show up. I had just moved to the North Broward suburb of Coral Springs in 1997.

I was going 50 in a 40......got pulled over. I was beside myself. Seriously? Never happened to me before ever. I mean I was not flying or driving recklessly and staying with the flow of traffic. Anyway the officer took my DL, registration, and insurance came back and handed me the ticket. Not a word to me.

I said #### it. I will plead not guilty. Went to 2 arraignment things. One where I plead. The next where they set my court date. So two days I have to shlep. Court date arrives...the guy showed up. Since I had a clean record. 90 bucks no points, adjudication. I was like....all that for a $90 fine and no points.

From that day on any future tickets I ever got I paid a ticket lawyer (Ticket Clinic) 70-90 bucks.....and never dealt with wasting my time again. No points, no worries. I average maybe one ticket every 7-8 years so it's an easy option. As long as you don't get more than one every year...this is what you should do.

The one time the officer didn't show the sequence went something like this.

My lawyer asked for a continuance (delay) and also asked for an evening date (this one had been during day) or maybe it was vice versa - anyone he asked for a different time of day. At the later date, the officer did not show up. Case dismissed.

I think I'm going to try night court because why would a cop who works during the day want to fight rush hour traffic to go to court after work?

What an #######. I have never even heard of that type of ticket.

Hopefully the judge dismisses it and puts that rookie on parking enforcement detail for 6 months.
