Paradise on Hulu: Episode 7 "The Day" is a masterpiece **WARNING, SPOILERS INSIDE** (2 Viewers)

I’m amazed at the love this show is getting. It’s formulaic network drivel with a few F bombs thrown in to make it seem edgy

Doesn’t help that Sterling K Brown is a terrible actor…we get it your cool clam and boring in every role you play

Wife likes it so I watch but i certainly don’t have hope of future seasons being any good

Your marriage is surely better than mine. There’s no way I would sit through formulaic network drivel with bad acting just because my wife likes it.

The two words I used in my downer post were:

Trope Fatigue

I think they mean the same thing.

I think the actual quality is somewhere between these 2 extremes. It doesn't blow but it's not a top 10 of all time show. It's a pretty decent more upscale take on wayward pines with maybe other popular shows mixed in. Marsden is great, I like the Sinatra character.

It’s not a top 10 show overall, but episode 7 might be a top 3 episode overall.

Can we at least agree it’s nowhere near deserving of its own thread

I mean I feel bad for people that might invest 7 or 8 hours in this show because of the undeserved accolades it’s getting in here

Of the series ? Sure.

If we’re taking other shows every episode I’ve seen of The Pitt blows this away

I think it's worth a watch. When I first saw this I felt like it should have just been a post in the streaming thread but now that it's 2 pages it might have been too much of a distraction for the streaming thread.

Oh Dan. Just stop coming in here then and wasting your time. The thread title is clearly highlighting episode 7. Nobody is saying it’s the best overall show ever.

I'm convinced now. I actually haven't enjoyed the show for what it is. Thanks for making everything clear, dan.

The shrink or "behavioral science architect" or whatever she is called is worth watching this alone. Goodness.

My daughter recommended this a couple weeks ago, and then I see this thread, so we started last night. Got through Ep1 and part of 2. I'm intrigued enough to continue. We were big fans of "This Is Us", and as soon as it started and I saw it was from the same dude who did that, I was hopeful.

season finale was pretty meh though
I loved the backstory of the Librarian, but yeah the very end was cheesy
Thought the back story was interesting but had holes. Found the prosthetic jowels distracting.

I liked what little they showed of the wife this season (one ep?).

Also.. 25k people hand picked as the future of humanity. Scratch that... 24k+ along with Sinatra's house staff, maid, etc. I know this is ultimately a commentary on haves and have nots, but just seemed glaringly weird.

Agree. Though I didn't necessarily think this was a commentary on wealth/status. I don't really remember that being allued to and I just took it as this facility supports X amount of people/we need this many people to run this facility/goverment. I know that the "good" answer is just to let in as many people or give everyone a chance or whatever but I think if something like this were to really happen we'd have to be a little choosey-like we'd need doctors and scientists and farmers and engineers and architects and programmers etc.

Also a much larger population for genetic diversity but it's not like Disney wants to pay that many actors/extras.

it's the coterie of billionaires like Sinatra actually running everything... that's the haves and have nots. Granted, it seems like she spearheaded and paid for most of it... so I guess I get it, but it also highlights that point

Still seems weird- if these are the last people left on earth, as they were guessing, that you would still set it up like pre-end of the world society, with big houses vs smaller houses, maids for the rich, streets that need cleaning, etc, etc.
