How should Antonio Cromartie TD be scored? (1 Viewer)

TD Antonio Cromartie, 109 yd (Nate Kaeding kick is good), 0:00.

I noticed that CBSSportline did not score it for the Defense...

since it is not a Punt return or a Kick return for TD, our league won't be scoring it I guess....or should it be considered a Kick return?

It's a Special Teams / Defense TD. CBS also has the Vikings D as having allowed on 8 points. Both should be corrected by Monday morning.

That's why they call it Special Teams TD in 99% of leagues. Any TD that happens on defensive special teams.

It should be considered a kick return, yes. There are lots of different types of kick returns (punt, kickoff, missed FG, safety kick, free kick). If your league scores for one, it should score for them all.

Yes. Fantasy leagues can make whatever rules they want to, but under the NFL rules a placekick is a scrimmage kick just like a punt is, and can be returned just like a punt can. Any play that involves a scrimmage kick should be considered a special teams play, IMO.

Fanball doesn't recognize it as a DEF/STD in my league. Since it is our commish I assume there will be some investigation on how he set-up the point assignment.

:blackdot:

I was asked about this by the Chargers DST owner today and I'm inclined to give him the 6pts, but it would make my life easier if the website would just do it for me cbs.sportsline.

If it's not updated by tomorrow I'll put it to a league vote and hope they do the right thing.

CBS now showing it as a DTD(109) for my league.

From the unofficial NFL rules:

13. Defensive team may advance all kicks from scrimmage (including unsuccessful field goal) whether or not ball crosses defensive team’s goal line. Rules pertaining to kicks from scrimmage apply until defensive team gains possession.
Based on this language, it appears that the NFL treats all "kicks from scrimmage" the same.
