How to stop cat from peeing on carpet instead of in litter box? (1 Viewer)

You can electrify your carpet so when the cat urinated on it, the cat will recieve a shock. This is not recommended if you ever plan on walking on the carpet yourself in an ungrounded manner or if you have small children who may venture onto the carpet. Large children are okay.

I have an ancient cat, she is 17+ years old. Lately, she has started missing the litterboxes. I have two other younger cats and total of three litterboxes. One one our second floor and two in our basement. The two in the basement are those that tend to get 'missed.' I bought one of those plastic pan where you place a washing machine (Like this only cheaper) to contain any missed pee. It has worked real well, although cleaning it is a PITA. Gets real smelly. I spray a bunch of multipurpose cleaning spray on the pan to knock out the smell until I can wipe the piss up. Not fun at all!!

I am thinking of moving the litter boxes to a shower in our basement that isn't used very often. That way, i can take the boxes out and clean the shower with water. I can also just move the litter boxes out of the bathroom as needed for guests.

I also have bought a couple of these to place near the litter boxes. With their constant spray, it keeps the area smelling better.

Put the cat in the toilet and close the lid. By the next day, you'll find you no longer have a problem with where it pees.

p.s. Cats suck.

To the OP, is your litter box covered or open air?

One of our 4 cats was peeing on the bathroom rugs and I suggested to the wife that she should try taking the lids off the boxes. Sure enough, the cat immediately started using the box.

Skeerdy cat!

It is covered.

Same thing with my neighbors cat. Took the cover off and it started using the box immediately.

I am temporarily living in a house with 4 cats.

I hate those soulless creatures so much. I almost killed one with my bare hands when it pissed on a bag in my closet.
