Some FF owners are still playing right now and most are already done for the year -- barring participating in playoff FF leagues.

How you will you spend your offseason? Following NFL and FF news closely so as not to lose your edge or to keep getting your fix? Or the opposite -- taking a much needed break to recharge the batteries? Will you play any other fantasy sports?

Of course, dynasty owners will be active but even then I'm curious about the level of commitment even then.

I really upped my number of leagues this year, so I'm looking forward to some down time away from FBG and ESPN. I don't want this to turn into a GRIND for me.

Fantasy Baseball. Takes you allllllllllllll the way to football season.

My whole world is a fantasy. 365 days.

It never stops.
Agreed, the reason some of us are still playing is because the effort we put in in the off-season.I will start my official rankings the first day after I am eliminated from all leagues, so I can continue to play this late into the year.

Indeed, Fantasy Baseball is good to take you through the months of downtime.

there is absolutely no reason to follow football from teh day after teh superbowl until MAYBE the draft... and then not again until training camps open.

I thought that's why many of us buy memberships here, so that we don't have to follow all the stupidity that is contracts and negotiations and rumors.... so that in a couple week's time before my draft i can just read up on what's crackin' and have a successful draft and season.

spring/summer is when i want to be outside and doing all types of other things... if ffl was in a nice part of the year i probably wouldn't participate

Huh? Fans (esp. the type to post on a FF forum) of teams generally follow free agency and the months leading to the draft pretty closely.

:no:Strictly seasonal for me as well. Actually, surprising number of TSP posters don't even play FF anymore. Now THAT is more mystifying than us part-timers.

I still follow things, but I stay away from the talking heads and rumor mills as much as possible. I'll check in here once a day or so to see any big news, and I keep up with twitter feeds of fantasy writers, but that's about it.

I do pay close attention to the panthers offseason moves, however.

The last few years I have taken a full break after the Superbowl...only to get back involved a little before my draft. But this year I think I'll keep up with what is going on a bit more. I started listening to the podcasts here and enjoy them, so if they will still be doing them occasionally during the off season then I'll listen to some of them. And maybe check in here from time to time. I definitely won't be spending a lot of time though....I think if you spend too much time you can start over thinking things.

Same, I follow it and check roto / FBG couple of times a day. I got a good mix of owners in my leagues; from the guys that send a zillion trade offers to the the guys you gotta wake up a day before the rookie draft.I used to get crazy and as soon as a rumor about a player is out there I would either pay high or sell low, usually I got the short end of the stick thanks to the off-season rumors so lately I have toned down my off-season trading and it paid off. I have 3 true dynasties teams and I have them set perfectly, as one is declining the other is rising. (rest of my teams are contract leagues and I found that those leagues have little off-season movements, most owners seem contempt to hold the players they like and purchase new ones in the auctions) I'm pretty much complete with my 16 team dynasty, ofcourse i will continue to acquire extra picks in future drafts but for now the team is loaded with young players. Now my 14 team just got KO'd in the Playoffs and need to be striped down.Long story short the off-season should be used to better your teams

FA and the draft are awesome but May - August is boring.
:goodposting:
Correct but this is when we get a life and enjoy summer before we re-load for another FF season
Oh I agree. I spend little to no time on FF during the summer months, spending all my time up at the cottage. But I get back into full force once the pre-season starts. More than enough time to prep for my drafts.

This is basically how I feel. In fact, I'm getting a little burned out on FF. Two small kids at home and other hobbies that I'm more passionate about. FF is losing out in my life. And thats ok. Its actually made the games somewhat more enjoyable when I'm not so worried about FF matchups. I'll prolly stay in the league that is with my buddies from high school, but I definately wont be putting as much time into it. Its more of a social thing. I kinda like just watching college and NFL football without the FF spin. This year, being as busy as I was, I didnt get spun on my matchups, and I dont think I ever will again. FF is a very small part of my being a sports fan.

yeah, i have one team in the semis, if they go you won't see me in the shark pool until August (well unless some crap fluke 9-7 type of team wins the superbowl, then i'll come on here to complain about how they need to reduce the playoffs to 4-8 teams total)But you can follow all my horrible, warped takes on money hoarding, scat, tennis, comic book characters, and being judgmental

Updated answer: going to Cancun for a week and a half. :banned:

I had lost my mind for a brief moment and almost scheduled the trip for the end of August into early September. It was my wife who had to remind me that I'd be missing my drafts if we went then, so we moved it to May. I am ashamed. :bag:

On a sandy beach somewhere until next July when I start checking FBG again and getting ready for my drafts.

Is there really a such thing as an "offseason"? If you play in a lot of private label, invite only, high stakes leagues, not really. I didn't get to where I am by taking time off and gloating about my victories from the past year. There's proprietary formulas to update, mysql databases and watching footage from sites like PlayOn Sports, it's basically a full-time job. Did you even know about PlayOn Sports? Of course not. You do now, it's my little gift. It's more than that really, as the full-time job isn't as demanding, but it's not as satisfying either. That's what happens at the ultrashark level though.

We also do interviews in a few of my leagues for potential members. In what I’d consider the my main, ultra-level league, we just had our first member leave in its 17-year history due to medical issues. Potential candidates are required to interview in front of a panel on Skype. We already have 5 scheduled.

It’s gonna be a fun “off-season”.

After 21 years, I'm retiring from FF.

I was getting burned out and the last 2 years of injuries just took the rest of the fun out for me.

Best of luck to all of you in your playoffs and in 2013.
