A little background. My former employer was moving my division to another state back in August, I was given the chance to move but didnt feel like it was the right time to, we were notified a few months prior and given stay packages, etc to stick it out until end of August. While that was going on I was obviously looking for a new position. I interviewed with probably 10 different companies in that span and a week after I was laid off from my former employee (wanted a week off), I started a new position at company A. I have been working with company A for the last 6-7 weeks. While this has been going on, I have still been in talks with other companies, in particular Company B, who really like what I have to offer, but at the time of the initial interview, they didnt have an open position that would fit, I have been on 3 different interviews with company B for different positions while still working for Company A. Well it sounds like Company B and I have finally figured something out for a position in their company.
So how would you quit Company A, with only being there 6-7 weeks, probably 8-9 weeks by the time everything is set in stone. Obviously Company A is not going to be happy, but I was in talks with multiple companies at the time of my lay off, the timing just wasnt right and I had to take a position when I could.
I normally am very courteous and give my employer at least a 2 week notice. I feel like this might not be the time to be giving notices, because of how upset they might be and all the grief im going to get, but it probably would help Company A to man the position for a little bit for them to find a new candidate.
